Nope - about 85% African-American...

That will be my contribution to this particular thread, giving the demographics of each sport...LOL!

This thread is drifting away from its original intent, and that is minorities that actually race, not fill the stands. Like I said earlier, it all starts at the grass roots levels, and there are very few of them there.
youd have sounded smart if you would leave politics out of it.all of us in this country are immigrants if your not native american.

Triumph motorcycles ?!
BMW and MB (along the rest of manufacturers in F1) told Max to shove down his "deriere" the proposition for a spec body chassis.
So they won't really go for it in NASCAR either. Unless NASCAR becomes more like the WTCC and/or DTM, meaning going to its stock roots to a lesser or higher degree, it's not gonna happen.

Re: Lester: NASCAR needs to accelerate pace of diversity efforts

im gettin sick of hearing about the need for more diversity in nascar.10 15 20 years from now i think you will see it naturaly without it being forced.most cup drivers started racing go karts when they where 5 years old.average driver has 20 + years of driving exp. by time they get in the cup series.how many minorities did you see at local race tracks 20 years ago or even today.forcing this is no different than afirmative action.making a big deal about diversity is racism in its self.its not like there is a color or sex rule that keeps minorities out.so quit talking about it its just fine the way it is.i think the more its forced the longer it will take.

everything has a way of working itself out.who would of thought in the eightys bb king would have sell out crowds that happend to be mostly white.matter of fact most of the new up and coming blues guitar players today are white johnny lang derek trucks kenny shepard.
and blues music was to the blacks what nascar has been to the whites.everyone will come around when they are ready.

just my opinion dont want to offend anyone.

Triumph Motor Company, an outgrowth of Triumph Motorcycles, manufactured automobiles of various styles from 1946 thru 1986 under various marques although the company itself ceased to exist after 1960 having been purchased by Leyland Motors, Ltd. which, with further mergers, formed British Leyland Motor Corporation in 1968. I owned a '57 TR3 for a couple years after High School in the early 60's.

the drivers, on the other hand come from a pool of the top 150 (or some other sorta large number) who have passed the NASCAR certification to drive in Cup (or whatever) series.

each driver draws a number that represents a pit stall. each car owner also draws a number that represents a pit stall stall. and thus a match is made for the coming race and the team will use that pit stall.

sponsors also draw numbers that match, you guessed it, pit stalls - that's the car and driver they will sponsor for that race. Sponsor "points" are awarded and "refund" checks passed out at the annual NASCAR banquet which represent the sponsor's final point standing. also a maximum limit is set for a race sponsorship by NASCAR (no more bullying by the owners for more money.) the sponsor money is divided 30/70 between driver and owner, respectively. (don't worry, the real money is the race purse.)

the driver and car team have 4 days to prepare for the race. the fastest 40 qualifiers start the race, the rest go home and try again the next week.

if a driver or car owner draws a number greater than the number of pit stalls, they are automatically eliminated from the coming race.

yeah, it's kinda like a lottery, but every driver and every car owner has an equal opportunity to race independent of race, creed, national origin, type of sunglasses, how cool (or un-cool) they look in their race uniform, or their bank account size.

and the greatest thing of all, every sponsor would be in every race they chose to attend! now, how cool is that?

quack quack quack you here that.racer duck comin through
