Back to diversity, cause like yer makin' me stray. I believe there may be two, possible three, votes for accepting "pirates" (should that be capitalized?), as a category of racer that will be provided neither handicap nor advantage should one achieve the opportunity to compete in a NASCAR event. What da flip we gonna do about the parrot?
I am crazy and you are correct that he posted Ha, but not hearties. The parrot set's on the leaders shoulder as in Jeffies, crapping down his shoulder and neck. That is ok with me,lol.

U outta u flippin' mind, which at the very least qualifies you for acceptance here. Don't go gettin' all proud on that. Some might want to hurt ya for it.

Face it ... we aren't going to change anything anyway but we can talk about it and express our opinions ... concerning diversity.

Thanks
OK, now you know a second button of mine. I got sucked right into that one. However, Steve, give me credit. I didn't go for anyone's jugular. Compared to another "discussion" you might remember, I thought I exhibited a great deal of gentility on this topic of diversity.

Re: Lester: NASCAR needs to accelerate pace of diversity efforts

Folks ... I discredit no one in this thread. My OPINION was/is that with a subject such as this one it is very easy to get off the balance beam. Getting off topic is a habit for me. Talking politics, race & religion is pure and simple danger for all of us. I enjoy good conversation, I accept getting off topic, but you all know by now that anger among friends never amounts to anything good.

I think we proved that over the last couple of weeks.

Re: Lester: NASCAR needs to accelerate pace of diversity efforts

I guess to remain on topic I'd ask again what is/has NASCAR done to promote diversity ? Next question is can NASCAR actually tell HMS, RCR, RYR, Rousch and all themrest that they MUST hire minorities ? I hope not. If there is a Japanese man/wpman out there that can act as a tire changer then fine. Convince the employer and then do the job.

I consider myself a NASCAR-American !!!

Re: Lester: NASCAR needs to accelerate pace of diversity efforts

If they want diversity, then by golly find some diverse drivers that have the talent to compete with the rest of the crowd and stop whining and crying to get people in a car.

Re: Lester: NASCAR needs to accelerate pace of diversity efforts

Man ... "touchy" ... "feely" ... doesn't even begin to describe this Thread. As always, all of you have awesome points.

From my perspective, I think this entire thing is ridiculous. I'm all for EO, but this is a stretch. There was another Thread on the good ol' boy majority a while ago. If non-Caucasians want in, go ahead! If you have the talent, I don't care what race you are.

I have a sneaky suspicion that anyone who gets a free ride will not be too popular with the fans. And heaven help them if they wreck one of the favorites.

I don't like this at all.

I'm assuming EO is equal opportunity, which leads to the easiest way to safely give my honest feelings on this.

Most people, no matter what they're position on this is, would say they have no issue with equal opportunity. I certainly don't, but this is not equal opportunity. If this NASCAR diversity program was really about equal opportunity, then I'd technically be in NASCAR right now. NASCAR is giving minorities this free ride up because they feel they do not have the financial means to do it themselves, but (sorry that I keep putting myself in this) that isn't any different from me in the early 80s. They're are plenty of people here in America in just as bad of shape as NASCAR and politically correct types view minorities to be, but none of them benefit from a free ride program to what they wish they could be. They don't have the opportunity that NASCAR is giving the minorities.

I can see clearly see that this has nothing to do with equal opportunity and everything to do with hype and political correctness.

Good points.

I don't have the financial means to get into NASCAR either. Has nothing to do with my race or the fact that I'm female. I also think it may be border-line offensive for NASCAR to assume minorities don't have financial means, and that's why we don't see many minorities in the sport.

Diversity is a good thing, but I agree this is all about hype and political correctness.

I'll probably get slammed for this, but how many sports have an equal mix of races?
