Petty has no regrets in racing career

Kyle Petty is the sort of man who'll die without regrets. If he wants to experience something he does, be it singing country music, sky diving or broadcasting, he does. When his son Adam was killed in a racing accident, he and wife, Pattie, turned the episode into as much of a positive as they could by launching the Victory Junction Gang Camp for seriously ill children. So if Petty never wins another race - and he knows he probably won't - then why should he regret that? "I carried tires during pit stops and I worked in the shop and then I was fortunate enough to drive and then I won races, and now I've come over a peak here and I haven't won races," said Petty, who won eight times from 1985-'95. "But I still get to drive a race car, and I still get to hang out with people. So I don't have an issue with it." At 47 years old and as a veteran of 28 years and 799 races, he remains a refreshing change of pace in the sport. Whatever his role. -- Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Good read. I love the Petty's, Kyle included. I just never could pull for him like I did Richard.

I think its humbling that he accepts the fact that he may not be the best out there but he just loves having the chance to race...

I love watching Kyle. Even though he don't win anymore, I still pull for him. I have missed knowing he's on the track the last few weeks, but have enjoyed him being in the booth. Gonna seem strange when he retires. He's one of the best, as far as I'm concerned, on the track and off.

Re: Petty has no regrets in racing career

Kyle Petty, to this point in time, is simply CLASS personified.

Human? Yeah baby. Hear his "bleep out" at the last road course race? But who flippin' aint?

Grounded in God he appears. If this indeed is accurate, earthy "Regrets" are of no consequence.

We pray here. He's been included in 'em more than once.

Not real sure you'll ever see Kyle's name in the 50 greatest but I believe he has the respect of most within NASCAR. I'll take respect over an award anyday.

Re: Petty has no regrets in racing career

Since Kyle has the Victory Junction camp maybe the King needs to start adopting some of these young punks so they get some proper home training. Guys like Kyle & Kurt Busch, Aaron Fike, etc. After all, all you have to do is look at son Kyle and know the kind of man you would want your son to be
