Nemechek whacked I like him, but production was lacking. Not sure he was quite the same after his brothers crash/death. Martin's success in the 01, as what had to be seen to some degree as his "replacement", did not help (personal observation).

Re: Nemechek whacked The thing that disturbs me about this Ginn racing issue, as is always the case, are problems caused by money and corporate sponsorship. I listened to Bobby Ginn talk to Buddy Baker and John Kernan on Sirius yestrerday and it sounded like the reason he let Sterling and Joe go is that they are preventing him from getting sponsors. That can be the case with any driver that isn't performing well, and these just two seem like the latest victims of the changing philosophy of the NA$CAR business. Ginn said that when your driver is up in age but doing well enough for himself that the sponsors will be attracted (which is why he moved Nemechek from the Army car for Martin), but when he's not, the sponsors can go anywhere and they will look to youth first. That is understandable, and I can see why Ginn has given Almirola and Smith their rides but why, I ask would Ginn just throw out his drivers halfway through the season? Well I can andwer my own question. They aren't making him enough money and he didn't care to wait until their contracts were up. We shouldn't have expected anything different from a real estate developer turned new age NASCAR owner.

Re: Nemechek whacked Lucky 13: Ginn's loss will be DEI's Gain By Greg Engle,Editor,Cup Scene Daily,July 19 Could the No.13 be a lucky number for Dale Earnhardt Incorporated? Already on record as wanting to add a fourth team, DEI may be in a position to buy the team that Ginn Racing officially shut down earlier this week. If DEI purchases the team, not only would they have a driver to go along with it in veteran Joe Nemechek, but the all important owner points as well. When Ginn announced that they were shuttering the team due to lack of sponsorship, Nemechek and Sterling Marlin were given permission to look for other opportunities. Marlin is currently in talks to return to his old team, Morgan-McClure Racing. The No.13 currently sits 34th in owner points, guaranteeing a starting position every week. Despite reports, according to officials DEI and Ginn Racing have not come to an agreement on a merger of the two organizations. However that doesn’t mean that DEI hasn’t talked about a purchase of the No.13 team and the points that go along with it, ensuring a starting spot for three of its teams. Currently the No. 15 team with driver Paul Menard is 39th in points and has missed six races so far this season.
