There are a few drivers that I would expect the sponsor to go with. And yes Jr and Bud was one of them. Also Gordon and DuPont, Johnson and Lowes, Stewart and Home Depot. The reason you think that is because they have been so successful together.
McMurray and Halvoline wasn't and Sadler and M&M's wasn't, so didn't expect them to go with the driver.

Budweiser said they had a clause in their contract with DEI that they could get out of the contract if Jr was no longer driving the 8 car. So which was they really sponsoring? I think both, not justthe car or the driver.

Re: Dale Jr. and Budweiser Parting Ways In '08

Earnhardt announced at Chicagoland Speedway that beyond ending his association with Budweiser on the hood of his car, he will end his personal services deal that was to run through 2008. Leaving Budweiser is another sign that Earnhardt's new deal will be with PepsiCo Inc., likely the Mountain Dew brand or a combination of several Pepsi products that include Gatorade, because the soft drink company can't be associated with a beer company. GO PEPSI!!!!

From ESPN.com ...

"You don't have to pay me to drink the beer," NASCAR's most popular driver said. "It's good beer and I'll always drink it and I enjoy it."

A man after my own heart.

I just heard a new twist to this story. Budwiser told Hendrick and all other race teams that wanted to be the only drink sponser and Hendrick didnt want to cut ties with Pepsi.

If that's true, I don't blame him. You don't cut ties with a longtime sponsor because a would-be new sponsor tells you too. He made the right call.

Re: Dale Jr. and Budweiser Parting Ways In '08

I suspect that Hendrick wanted to keep Pepsi and Kelloggs, and Kelloggs wont be associated with beer since the cereal brand is aimed at children which is why they were outraged when junior climbed into the car in a Budwieser uniform!

I'm sure its just an associate sponsor, but Kasey is always sucking on Life Water when being interviewed. I believe it is a Sobi beverage which is distributed by PepsiCo.

I think it may also have something to do with the way Budweiser left Hendrick Motorsports at the end of there prior partnership in '99. They pulled out after the season leaving the 25 without a sponsor and in my opinion ending Wally Dallenbach's career (which may or may not have been a bad thing). Hendrick wound up putting some real estate company on the car and Jerry Nadeau in the seat.

Re: Dale Jr. and Budweiser Parting Ways In '08

to bring light to it though, contracts call for all sorts of stuff. who drives the car, what color the car is, what make the car , every situation contract can be different.

but BUD and Jr. go together like milk and cookies.

but we should be seeing soon if Jr. is going to Do the Dew
