Hendricks should replace a sponsor. Budweiser and Dale are an icon. When you think of one you think of the other. SO SO SO SAD
Icon in Nascar=STP/Richard Petty and even they parted ways.Bud/Jr. ain't crap for an icon between sponsor/driver.

it seems to me that in the last huge wave of fans (since network TV and SR's death) that a lot of fans just don't understand how NASCAR works...

i realize that sponsors like thier drivers and stuff and sometimes but not often they will go with that driver but many more times they don't...

but the sponsors sponsor the car, the team and the owner, the owner is the one who gets the money to fund the team...

and the same thing goes with the number 8 no one takes their number anywhere, it always stays with the owner...

i am surprised most people don't think the drivers own their cars and that they race the same car every weekend...

i am only 24 and i have been watching since i can remember and i have known how this all works for a long long time, shoot rusty was my favorite before he reitred and miller even went with him from the 27 to the 2 and i still knew that wasn't the norm...

look i am not saying i know everything about racing, but this is all very basic and i guess i take it forgranted that casual fans should know this stuff
1.If you by their quote you mean them saying, who's going to sponsor Jr now, that don't make them a new fan. I have been watching Nascar longer than you have been alive, and guess what? I say who is gonna be Jr's sponsor. But I guess I should be saying, who is going to sponsor the car that Jr will be driving for owner Rick Hendrick. Alot easier to say it the other way.
2. The only reason I think alot of people looked for Bud to go with Jr is because they said they might.
3. Probably not alot of them ask to take a number with them. But when you are as popular as Jr is in the 8, you're gonna ask. Thats kinda like Gordon and the 24 now.
4.They seriously don't own their cars?

well obviously you took what he said differently than i did...

i took it like, if bud isn't going to sponsor then who will, like no one else can sponsor dale jr. and he didn't understand why he would change...

maybe that's not what he meant and if he didn't i apologize, although everything i said i do mean...

i never heard anything that said bud wanted to go with him just rumors...

Re: Dale Jr. and Budweiser Parting Ways In '08

yes i watch espn, but i think too many people thought just since it was JR, bud was going to go with him, it was always just a rumor...

havoline didn't go with mcmurray...

m&m's didn't go with sadler...

and so on...

yes i know sponsors sometimes do go with the driver...

but i think a lot of people thought that bud sponsored jr's car no matter what, when in fact they sponsor the car from dei that jr drives...

Re: Dale Jr. and Budweiser Parting Ways In '08

my bad on the Milke9 thing...

well i hate the cubs (i am cardinals fan), and every sports team from chicago...

but i will tell you this i think Rex is going to be good if they stick with him, big arm he just needs to settle down a little bit...

and like i said earlier, i apologize if i took your quote wrong, but like i said i do feel that too many who claim to be fans don't know how the sport works and that is fine you can still watch i just wish that people who didn't know would ask questions rather than just jumping into a conversation...

like i said my bad and thank you for immortalizing me in your sig...
