Days of Thunder ... hmmm ... I have to say I like that movie. And I stress movie! I thought it was an interesting rivalry story but I in no way think it came even close to the reality of NASCAR. If any driver behaved the way these drivers did on the track, they'd be banned from the sport. I did like how they had "real" footage of "real" drivers interspersed throughout the movie. I can even spot that ol' black #3.
I don't think there will ever be a movie worth mention about any type of racing. I haven't seen it yet. Not even 3. Dale? I don't know. I guess that's more of a documentary, so I don't think that counts.

Part of Days of Thunder was based on real life drivers with a lot of fiction added in. For example, Nascar did make Dale Earnhardt and Geoff Bodine go out to dinner together because they had been wrecking so much on the track. The thing about it is back in the day you didn't see so any banning or anything like that. I have heard Richard Petty say that back in his day they took a guy on the back streatch and took care of them. Back then there wasn't tv cameras on them either.
