New Name, same Chase!

Chase Races to remain the same in 2008: NASCAR President Mike Helton said the 10 races for next year's Chase should be the same as this year. "It's still a work in progress, but so far at least we don't see anything different in the Chase part of the season," Helton said Friday of next year's schedule. We're not quite through yet, but I don't suspect any changes to come up in that part of the schedule." The 10 Chase races this season are New Hampshire, Dover, Kansas, Talladega, Charlotte, Martinsville, Atlanta, Texas, Phoenix and Homestead.(Roanoke Times)(7-7-2007)

A road course needs to be added in the chase. If you want to win a championship, you should have to perform on every type of race track, including a road course.

I agree with that. I think every type track they race on should be represented in the chase.

What are the fan attendance numbers at a road course versus the ovals ?? If they are less that could well be a factor.

I have no idea what the difference in attendance is. I just think if they are going to have road races on the schedule, they should have one in the chase also.

No disagreement there, I'm just thinking the numbers might be the deciding factor.

If attendance was a factor, the Kentucky would already have a cup race and California would loose one.

Be of good cheer, Dustin. My money is on Kentucky getting their date. Their anti-trust suit has too good of legs for it to fail. Though ISC can't stop their books and inner-workings from being made public (the price you pay for being a publicly traded company), NASCAR sure as Hell doesn't want anyone poking their noses in THEIR business.

The case WILL NOT get out of mediation before ISC/NASCAR caves. The question is, which ISC track is going to lose a date to Kentucky. My guess would be Martinsville because, that way, NA$CAR could publicly blame Kentucky for "stealing" a date from a popular short track (which also happens to be a track in a remote market area which NASCAR wants to rid itself of).

Are we angered yet?

That would figure... NA$CAR would find some way to give the Kentucky the shaft when they have to give them a race date. Damned if you do and damned if you don't

Re: New Name, same Chase!

There is a road course in the race to the chase, Watkins Glen, But they should switch it to one in the race for the chase, and one during the chase.
