collections

Collections, what do you have.

my self I was a big earnhardt fan and a an entire room of dale stuff.
once he was killed I was offered 15k for it, but wasn't interested.

now it's all packed up in the attick. I am biulding a game room in my garage and will probably put some of it out there.

I collect diecast muscle cars now.

Re: collections

Wow, 3 fan, 15k? Impressive. I have a "race room" with, I think, about 35 1/24 scale Nascar cars, mostly cup series. I have a DW truck that's really cool and a few Busch series cars. A few haulers too, and lots of 1/64 scales. Went thru a period where I had to have one for every driver (except, of course the ones I can't stand). My nephew comes over and says where's Jeff's car? I say, there is no Jeff in this house.

Re: collections

I was a big Davey Allison fan, so I have amassed quite a few Davey items, also which are packed away! When we move, we want to have a bar/game/tv room where we can display our stuff. My husband was a big Rusty fan, so there's quite a few items in that collection as well. Oncea3fan - I know, I know!! But the "Ford" in my blood was put there a long time ago by my pop-pop (Grandfather), god rest his soul! Hey, I just thought of something, being that the Ford oval is blue, and it's in my blood, does that mean I bleed blue? As in royalty?

Hey smoke842"7", I'd like to say No Jeff in this house, either, But I did have to buy a "stuffed" Gordon doll! Just for razzing others, he has blindfold on, and I tied his hands behind his back and strung him up to the ceiling fan for awhile! One year at Dover, some guy had the same doll tied to his belt loop dragging it behind him on the ground (about 6 feet of rope) I thought it was so funny I followed him around for awhile just to see others reactions, it was hysterical!

Re: collections

Turned down 15k and now it's in the attic????

I started to get in on the diecast thing right about the time they were getting hot. I checked different places daily. I bought Beckett price guide one day that had a feature article on the car they predicted to be the frst "hundred dollar car" (selling then for about 10 bucks). A day later I happen across ten of them. I'm thinking hey wait a few years and cha ching. So I bought them. The next month there is a retraction saying the manufacturer made 250,000 not the 2500 they originally announced. I held onto them few years and they made it up to $20 a piece....not that anyone wanted them! I ened up donating them to toys for tots. figured they'd get used the right way!!

Now I only buy what I enjoy, mostly jackets, autographed stuff and only my driver!

Re: collections

Good to hear that there are some others out there that are as 'eat-up' as I am...I have mentioned earlier that my collection is getting out of hand...last inventory (about four years ago) estimated at about 30K...wrenches, sockets, die cast, throw rugs, wall hangings, special designed adn crocheted afghan (#3), hats, jackets, puzzles and on and on...estimated 300 + 1/24 with about equal 1/64th...wife having a fit...back of new shop devoted to collection...all drivers welcome (except no damn Toyota, Honda etc)...even have token Gordong in various race designs etc...stuff dating back to 15 or so years...even added a full scale, real to life, 2004 Earnhardt edition Monte Carlo...(I'm heavy Earnhardt, but love the good drivers with class)...enjoy being able to walk on Ernie Irvan throw rug, and the #24 decal in the black/red and silver toilet bowl....humor has to play a part in the collection!

Re: collections

I've been a huge Dale Earnhardt fan since the 80s and have a pretty good collection of his stuff. Although, I did sell off a few of his more valuable diecast about a year ago to help fund another hobby. To make it clear, I did not capitalize on his death and sell anything during the bizarre ebay frenzy when his cars went through the roof with his some cars going for over $1k. At that time prices were insane, but they have since stabilized and are much more reasonable.
I still have 4 large boxes of mostly DE 1/24 diecast stowed away in a closet. My plan was to get display cases, but after his death, it just wasnt the same.

I also have a few of the early MonteCarlo Aerocoupe cars driven by Tim Richmond, Darrel Waltrip , Ernie Irvan and Niel Bonnet. I even have a David Pearson Chattanooga Chew Chevy. Its been so long since I have inventoried them, I forgot what all I have.

Re: collections

Nevadastars - I agree with you, I need to do an inventory! The one thing I see everyday is the Pennsylvania tag on the back of my car that reads - FLY RYR, with a RYR bracket around it, and people still ask me what it says, once a lady followed me into a parking lot to ask what it meant, something about the Flyers?!

Re: collections

I never bought any of the later Action repro Earnhardt stuff, mine was all from the first runs. I dont think I have any banks of his, they are all clear window. I believe I sold my 87 Wrangler but still have the 88 Goodwrench car. Like you, I also have the Neil Bonnett Country Time Lumina bank with Hoosier tires........which unfortunately, were the cause of his untimely death. Other cool things I have of DEs are some pit banks. I have the 25th Anniversary, Wheaties, Peter Max, Taz, Dale Jr. Superman and a couple others. As you said, I could go on, and on and on.......

Oh, that is hilarious! LOL. I bought a #97 car (just a cheap one of course) andset it on fire, took a hammer to it, made it look like it hit the wall. And flattened the tires.

Re: collections

I have a dale earnhardt goodwrench 10lb. bag of charcoal, can't remember the brand off hand, the only other one I've ever saw was at richmond, and a bunch of rusty fans were laugh as they set it on fire for some earnhardt fans.

the bag is painted to look like dales car.
