Re: Harvick, stay or go ???

Very few athletes have commitment to their teams anymore beyond what the contract calls for. That isn't to say that tyere are not some drivers who aren't commited to teh team and it also doesn't mean that they are all dying to move on before the contract is over. My point is that in todays sports world it is all about the almighty dollar. Who ever is going to offer me the best package will get my abilities. There are very few athletes commited to any team, in any sport.

Re: Harvick, stay or go ???

At best he is a mediocre driver with a team that has a history of being a winning team. He arrived when a driver was sorely needed and got a quick victory. His on track antics are those of a priviliged 9 year old. I'd much rather see RCR racing dedicate more of their resources to Jeff Burton. When he was with Rousch his record was better than it is now. I think he has more ability than Harvick and deserves more attention. By the way where is brother, Ward Burton anyway ????

Re: Harvick, stay or go ???

Dale Sr. once said, after starting DEI , I intend to end my driving career driving for RCR.
I must comment gordon on signing a life time contact with hendrick.
I kinda wonder how that contract reading as to age and preformance.
will he run with the champs prov. for years like petty and dw. ????

get hard to whatch a race and rooting for a lameduck driver or none at all.

Re: Harvick, stay or go ???

Isn't there a family relationship of some kind between Childress and Harvick or am I dreaming that one up?

Re: Harvick, stay or go ???

I think childress's daughter is married to mike dillion, I am not sure of any relation to harvick though.

there is a lot of related people in there garage area in NASCAR.

jeff burton was the one dale wanted to replace him, I do find my self rooting for him, but then I root for all RCR cars.

how long will burton race , I think he is 38 , maybe 10 more years ????

Re: Harvick, stay or go ???

Just read online at the Nascar.Com site that Harvick wants to stay with Childress. He said it isn't about the money, he wants to win a championship. It'll be interesting to see just how that scenerio plays out. He set 5/6.06 as a date to want to be signed.

Re: Harvick, stay or go ???

I think Harvick should go! In the beginning he felt all the pressure of filling Dale Earnhardt Sr. shoes. Then he admitted on national tv he was under so much pressure he didn't want to try anymore. If I was an owner of a team, and my driver said that on national tv, I would have let him go, immediatly. Granted he is doing better this year. Only because he is getting pressure in my own opinion from the organization and his sponsor. He needs to get out of Cup and go back to Busch series where he belongs.

Re: Harvick, stay or go ???

Harvick won't leave. He is securly in the Childress Team. Plus no one will bring back the number 3 in the Childress Camp. Richard won't let that happen.

Jayski reports that Harvick is signing with Childress thru 2009 and it's almost a done deal, too so I think the Toyota thing might not happen with him. Which is a good thing, in my opinion. At least Harvick's been closed-mouthed about the whole deal, gotta respect him for that.

Re: Harvick, stay or go ???

I was reading in Nascar Illustrated that Childress is looking at some young talent. His name is Nick Hayes, does anyone know anything about him? Also it states that Harvick is thinking about a move to anothe outfit for 2006? Can anyone confirm?

Thumbs down Re: Harvick, stay or go ???

I remember a few years ago there was a road race in California. My boy Gordo was heading for a respectable finish when he ran out of gas. While coasting in for a 20th or so finish, at the 1/8th pole, Harvick slammed into the back of the #24 DuPont Chev and sent him into the straw bales. That goes to show y’all what kind of driver Harvick is all about.

Done and done.

Hey, Blue, everyone makes mistakes, including your boy Gordo. Harvick probably didn't realize he was out of gas. Ha ha, couldn't resist giving you a hard time.

Re: Harvick, stay or go ???

Kevin and Richard Childress have scheduled a press conference on Friday 5/5 at Richmond, so looks like he's staying at Childress.
