I can find no fault with that definition.

It was a publicized event. I'm not sayin you said you seen it. Did Gordon forsee 4 championships..... Now he does... MY OPINION is if Gordon gave his word in a handshake agreement he should have stayed with that and honored it.

I would just like a link to this publicized event as most don't do business in public.

Meaning of course if he did not, then one would be in agreement. Fact - we flat do not know.

Re: Toyota in NASCAR

Once again I get to vent about the media. Is there a source somewhere that can show evidence that this event did in fact occur ? I'm not doubting anyone here but I do question the media who reports this stuff with no verifiable source.

Ask and ye shall receive. From Jeff Gordon's biography, no less. While it doesn't specifically say they had a handshake, or a verbal agreement, it does say Davis expected Gordon to drive for him in 1993.

It was also written up by Dick Berggren in a 1993 issue od Stock car Racing Magazine. I could look that up for quotes from Dr. Dick if you wish.

I don't think it's any kind of a stretch at all to believe that, at a bare minimum, Jeff and Bill Davis had a verbal agreement but knowing Bill Davis's history a bit, my bet is that, at a minimum they shook hands on the deal.

But, situational ethics bit BDR (and Ford) right in the exhaust pipe.

I do remember Bill Davis saying he was hurt that he thought of Jeff as a son.
