As for "Hate" you would have to know the person to hate them, seems to me. I personally had a great dislike for Dale Earnhardt, on the track, but we were friends, now as for Teresa, that's the only person in NASCAR that I ""HATE"", Will not tell you the reason thou, I might say something that I would regret later.

You knew Sr.? Who the heck are you? Now you've got me curious! Tell me! Tell me!

Moderate moderating !!
Are you kidding? That's not moderate. I left the site this morning, this guy shows up and gets banned, all in just a few hours. There's no moderation there LSC. That's downright fast, and as far from moderate as you can get. I have to hand it to you moderators.

Hopefully I speak for most of the Mods when I say that the amount of tough moderating we do is minimal. This happens because we keep a close eye on fighting amongst the troops. Anyone who spends even the least amount of time at GTG understands the value of good posts. What happened today is rare for the most part. I think Simon will agree. When these situations do happen we try to be fair and quick. In todays case both of those things happened. If you've spent anytime here it is easy to tell when a new member isn't going to survive. Leeway is given and a line of communication is started right away. We try to advise the new poster of the rules, but in todays case the rules were for everyone but this person. To a very small degree it is good for everyone to get a view of posters such as that one. You can walk away with a better appreciation of just how good GTG really is. From my perspective this forum is great because of all of you. You all know and understand the rules and most importantly you follow them. There is nothing I enjoy more than being able to come to the NASCAR forum and be a poster first and a moderator last. I enjoy both challenges ... thanks to all of you.

Way back, and I mean back in the day, as Jr says on his show on Speed. I was competing in a Rally Race, 1975, that just happened to pass by the Petty Family home and Shop. My left front tyre blew out making a hard right and I rolled my MG all the way to their front yard. During my recovery, after being released from the hospital, Lee put me up at his house. Also the shop fixed my car, had the only Brit engine built by Maurice. That's how I meet Dale. Later whenever I was down there I would go fishing with Dale, Richard, and Lee. Dale was 'the salt of the earth' type of guy. If you'd had a chance just to sit and talk to him, You'd know why he was at Lee's house so many times, and why D. W. wasn't.

Just so I don't mess up my other post. I forgot the most important thing. At that time Dale was an up and comer, and was getting somewhat of a bad rep. Lee and Richard saw potential in him, and were giving him alot of advise. With their help Dale would never have made it to Cup racing.

95% of the moderating i do is managing the news we have coming in .......4% is tweaking members posts of name calling or whatever ..... 1% is banning (i have only banned 2 members in 6 months or so) ...... the members here make my job very easy

Thanks for sharing. I don't want to turn this into a Sr. thread, but that's a fantastic story!

The fact that Lee had you recover at his house is touching. How many other people would do that, regardless of who they are? Fishing with Dale, Richard, and Lee must be such fond memories, no matter what you thought of them on the track.

I thought Dale and DW were pretty tight. Am I wrong? Or was DW just not as welcome at the Petty house?

Yes, Dale had a bad rep. Interesting that the Petty's were instrumental in Dale's success.

Man, I would love to pick your brain some day!

Again, thanks for sharing!

I think it was just the distance that you had to travel that keep'd DW from Lee front porch. As for Dale and DW being tight, I'm not sure. But all drivers know every drivers phone number. They can always come together for some deal or another in a friendly manner. I E Dale and Jeff.

don't know where Dale lived, but DEI is South of Mooresville which is about 30 miles N of Charlotte so I suspect he lived nearby. the Petty's are from Randleman though I vaguely remember something about High Point, so I'll use High Point 'cause it's closer. Google Maps says the driving distance between them is 63 miles and it'll take ya 1 hr 19 minutes. have to want to see somebody to travel that far just to hang out...
