JPM has the talent.... he is just in an organization that just doesn't have the equipment. Put him in a better organization/equipment and he will probably set the circuit on fire.

I still think that, IF he sticks around (I really have a lot of doubt there), he'll have a following like you wouldn't believe and he'll be successful on ovals.

Honestly, in my opinion, there are many great drivers, but very few stand head and shoulders above the rest. The late DE was a master at getting the most of an ill-handling car, very few today can match that talent. His famous pass-in-the-grass of Bill Elliott at Charlotte comes to mind. Elliott had a much faster car, but Dale dug deep and found a way to get around him................WITHOUT wrecking him. YouTube - The Winston 1987 - Earnhardt vs Elliott Stewart could be in that catagory if he could control his brain-farts. In most cases, it's the car that makes them what they are. I often wonder how Gordos or JJ's, Cup careers would have turned out, if they didnt have those superior Evernham or Knaus cars under them. I'm not saying they're not great drivers. They are both very good, but no better than a lot of others out there that never got the chance to be in that "perfect car" on a regular basis. This is just my on the matter, and not intended to get the HMS lovers riled up. |

| Re: Juan Pablo Montoya I'm not sure that Nevada said Sr was or wasn't in superior equipment. What I read the post as, was that when his car wasn't a top car, Dale got alll there was plus a bit more out of it. Possibly more than another driver might.
