| I found watching this race rather tedious at best. The track would seem much more suited for the formula racer that is low to the ground vs the NASCAR racer. Watching these NASCAR racers take the turns at 30 mph or less was just boring. Heck I could've been out there in my Prius. Once all the cars were lined up that was pretty much it unless someone went off the track or had to pit. Passing seemed almost impossible. The NASCAR racer IMHO is much better traveling balls to the wall, wide open in the 170 - 200 mph range. Track speeds of 30 mph - No wonder they were practicing with go-carts. I know they want to expand their fan base out West, but dang! I'm surprised those Kalifornians weren't at the track protesting the environmental damage caused by the NASCAR racers not to mention how the noise was affecting the mating habits of the endangered Sonoma desert jumping mouse. | Re: Infineon Raceway - NASCAR or Formula? I enjoyed the race. Don't see a problem with the cup cars running it. Don't know about the formula cars, cause other than the Indy 500 I don't watch all the others. As far as the passing, I saw plenty of cars able to pass. |

| Re: Infineon Raceway - NASCAR or Formula? Actually, the noise from the cars triggers the mating instincts of the rare and normally elusive Sonoma desert jumping mouse. The rodent orgy we witnessed in turn 3 is sure to cause enough of a population explosion to put the mouse off the endangered list. So we Californians can go back to our tree hugging ways with a clear conscience. If you're there, it is really a bit more exciting. I was there for Saturday's practice and to watch the Grand National West race... there's a lot more action on the road course than I thought there would be in terms of passing. Gave me better perspective for watching the race at home on Sunday.

| Re: Infineon Raceway - NASCAR or Formula? The Indy type cars don't go any faster around the corners do they ??? |

| Re: Infineon Raceway - NASCAR or Formula? Open wheel cars would be faster through the corners because they produce more downforce and are lighter with a lower center of gravity. That being said, I enjoy the race from a strategic standpoint and because it's more in the hands of the driver than anything else. If you want to see side by side racing and a close finish, you will be dissapointed in most road course racing. I like the road course races. I think NASCAR should do a race or two on dirt also. |
