| Re: Slippery Slope since Chad is "the golden haired boy" around Hendrick, I doubt he is required to inform Rick of every little tweak he makes, 'cause Rick trusts him completely to take every advantage possible. after all, it's "rule interpretation" .. something they've been successfully doing for years...

To me this wasn't done as an organization. If it was the #5 and #25 would have also failed. This was a 24 and 48 thing. And like you, I don't understand why they think they have to. |

This is even given more weight by the fact that NASCAR let the 24/48 teams cut 10" off the existing fender, make a piece to go back in it and then repaint/vinyl the thing. How was that part "previously approved by NASCAR" Again, this relies on the media accounts and statements over the weekend (Larry Mac) that the car fit the templates even with the "cheating" fender. The penalties between DEI and HENDRICK aren't consistent. The penalties after the fact are, but I didn't see DEI loose their starting spot at Darlington and be placed in the back of the field nor dis I see DEI sit out any practice time. I understand that NASCAR didn't find the illegal bracket on the DEI car until pre-race inspection, but they still didn't send him to the back of the field. |
