Re: I feel the need for speed...TEXAS Testing, qualifying and practice mean nothing when it comes to the race. How many times did Jeff Burton used to qualify 37th and come back to win or at least show up in the top 5. Different setups for each event.

Re: I feel the need for speed...TEXAS It is very apparent that the fix is in for Gordo. Did anyone notice that the ‘The Man’ had ordered Carl Edwards to sacrifice his 1st place position in Sunday's race at Texas Motor Speedway, and wreck into Gordon? Due to supurb driving skills, Gordo was able to recover, but the damage was done. That little incident put Gordo down two laps and he was never to recover; even with the lucky dog collar around his neck. Done and done

Re: I feel the need for speed...TEXAS [quote=Nevadastars]ARE YOU SERIOUS??? The incident that I’m referring to happened on lap 258 when Carl Edwards, who I believe was in 1st place at the time, (he did lead about 50 laps), got into the side of Jeff Gordon. Gordon was forced to the pit to repair the damage. True, Gordo did not have the right set up at the start of the race, but do to superior work by his crew; the car was clearly dialed in at the 258 mark. It was only a matter of time before Gordo would make his move from position 11 and strike at the leaders. I don’t know if he had enough car to catch Kahne, but I’m sure it would have been a battle down to the end. Done and done.

Re: I feel the need for speed...TEXAS Ok, I stand corrected, Edwards led 6 laps, half of which were under caution. He got the lead by taking two tires, then gave it up 3 laps after the green flew. This is according to Nascar.com http://www.nascar.com/2006/races/lap...xas/index.html I still am confused as to who "The Man" is that "ordered Carl Edwards to sacrifice 1st place position...."

Re: I feel the need for speed...TEXAS Hi Wampin ... I like to look at that issue from the other side of the fence. Gordo didn't finish behind Jr. ..... Jr. finished ahead of Gordo and many others in the field. This time change was good.

Re: I feel the need for speed...TEXAS Actually, to see the #8 car win another race would do wonders for the TV ratings. (Talladega is on the schedule twice and Daytona one more time – so there is still hope.) NASCAR would just hate to see that fan base fade away. Just look at how many people tune in to watch Tiger when he is at the top of the leader board on Sunday. As everyone knows whose in the know, $$ makes the world go around. Done and done
