Jeffey Poo and Johnson? Glad to see them bringing up the rear ... enough said.

7th and 17th respectively, and no way the penalties to be levied on the 24 will take away his points lead. Jeff increased his lead to 274.

Then there's my Baby Dale ... great starting position. I hope he gets a top-five finish, but Sr. was never good at turning right. Perhaps Jr. can turn the Earnhardt road-course legacy around. That would be nice.

I will give ya that. It was a good drive to 14th.
lmao, good points

All season long, every time there was a thread related to Montoya's performance and his driving "style", if you can call it that, there were many responses pointing out that he will excel on the road courses. Well, here we are. A 32nd starting spot is none too impressive.

Don't get me wrong. Though I am obviously not a Montoya fan thus far, I was definitely looking forward to a road course (not my favorite type of racing) to see what he's got. Fat flippin' chance he can get a top-five finish starting back as far as he is.

Then there's Robby ... like Montoya, another accident waiting to happen, but he does well on road courses and has a good starting spot. Still hate him.

By the way, I may have missed it, but I didn't see Mikey anywhere. Did he not even attempt to qualify?

I will semi-focus on Montoya tomorrow and give him the benefit of the doubt. In a spin on the words of Sinatra, "If he can't make it there, he can't make it anywhere." I don't care what he accomplished prior to coming to Cup.

well what has your tongue now?

I was at Sears Point the year Earnhardt Sr. won, 1995. He didn't care for road courses, but he did well on them and usually in the top 10.

Well they may lose points yet and close up the gap plus JJ may lose Knaus. That would be a blessing to the crew chiefs that don't cheat .... as much as Chad !!!

do I remember correctly that Chad is on probation for the rest of the year from his "trouble" at Daytona? It'll be interesting to see how NA$CAR gets around this one...

Re: Montoya Fans: Cat got your tongue?

I'm not a JPM fan either. but I have to congratulate him on his win. as far as I know he didn't wreck anyone and drove a clean race (by NA$CAR standards)

I would like to find out what happened to Robby. after his last pit stop, he just slowed down... exactly the wrong strategy!!!

BTW, in his post race interview JPM said he had driven at Infineon before - about 15 years ago (think it was for a driving school.)

Don't we still see pictures of that victory lane from time to time? Sr. holding his steering wheel over his head in victory lane.

Although I still can't classify that as his best road course race, The Watkins Glen race in 96 after the wreck and broken bones in Talladega was ballsy to say the least.

After Robby had to pit for gas he was down to I think 30th, finished the race 16th.
Well as far as I'm concerned John Paul may or may not be the best driver around, but he got the job done today, with a Dodge, so thats a plus.
I do wonder about the car, since his teammates finished 32nd and 40th. But we'll find out later after post race inspection. Hope nothing is wrong with it.

I hated that for Robby. But I'm glad Montoya won. I don't think anything was done to Montoya's car just because Stremme and Sorenson didn't do good. I mean, it's Stremme and Sorenson.

NASCAR always does a post race inspection, and who knows what they may find, or invent. As for Stremme, Avg. finish 24.5, Avg, COT finish 28.143 and Sorenson Avg, finish 26, Avg. COT finish 23.429, I know what you mean.

LOL! Talk about posting and ending up with egg on your face. That initial post is absolutely 100% dead wrong. Couldn't have predicted it any worse than you did..... nice going.

Since I am a Montoya fan let me congratulate you on such a terrible post.

As for the race. Robby Gordon had the winning car, no question. I hate it for him, since he is an owner driver I was pulling for him to beat the corporate, multicar teams.

The race played into Montoya's hands, he saved fuel and on a road course (as seen in the past) strategy is key. Ganassi knows how to win road course races.

Re: Montoya Fans: Cat got your tongue?

I like Montoya but have been pretty critical of him lately. So I guess I'm eating some of that mighty tasty crow, too. I was impressed with his performance. I think he only spun one car in the middle of quite a traffic jam and that incident didn't look very intentional. He didn't go overboad when he was racing Johnson, either. A little bumpin' and bangin' but that was it. I say good for him. If he can keep that temper in check, he will become a major force to be reckoned with. I wonder what and when will be his first "oval" win?
