Thanks - I am a JJ fan (not so much JG -I know, I know, they're on the same team but..... ). I really think Knaus has gotten completely out of control with the cheating, and it really makes me mad, because it makes JJ look bad, too. These guys don't need to cheat...

I just joined GTG yesterday, and I completely agree that this is the best NASCAR forum I have joined.

Much!!! They seem to think that NASCAR stepped out of bounds when they didn't allow Gordon and Johnson to qualify. They did change their tune somewhat when Gordon finished 7th and Johnson finished 17th, but not much. Almost to a member the Gordon/Johnson fans on this other forum seem to take Jeff Hammond's side, when he said that putting Gordon, Johnson to the back was penalty enough. Everyone that been around this sport long enough remembers who Hammond worked for, Hendricks with Driver D W.

suedon70, welcome to GTG. I know we've already interacted in the trivia threads, but I'd still like to welcome you formally. and I can see you're off to a great start with 25 posts in just a bit over a day. Keep it up!

Wow!!! You should go onto that other forum and repeat that statement. No, better not, you might be tar and feathered before they hung and quartered you. They don't like anyone that would say something like that about their golden boy Chad '3 time cheater' Knaus. As for your last statement, you're right they don't have to cheat. I could understand teams like Yates 31 33pl, Ganassi 21 24 28pl, Ginn 8 29 30pl, Evernham 22 27 36pl, and Hass 34 35pl. doing some shady deals, they're at the bottom, some are only one race away from 36th. I wouldn't like it, but I could understand. What do you get when you cheat being a team like Hendrick 1 5 11 20pl, Gibbs 2 6 18pl, Roush 3 7 15 17 26pl, or Childress 4 9 10pl?

Thanks Racer Duck - It's great to have an intelligent discussion with NASCAR fans . Most people on other forums just absolutely trash rival drivers and their fans to the point that it gets ridiculous. I certainly don't mind a little ribbing here and there, but not constant abuse....

although I wouldn't call all our discussions on GTG "intelligent", I can say "for the most part they are at least entertaining!"

We trash 24 and 48 alot.... but we leave the fans alone. No flaming allowed. It's somewhat civil, but we keep it intelligent. By the way... welcome to our little corner of the world.

Figures. If NASCAR would have just put J&J to the back of the field and left it at that, I would have been furious.

I like Hammond, but I completely disagree with him on this one!

Re: Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson Fail Inspection

Hendrick Motorsports Responds to Penalties: Car owner Rick Hendrick responded to NASCAR sanctions announced today involving the #24 and #48 Nextel Cup Series teams of Hendrick Motorsports. "We are disappointed in NASCAR's decision and feel the penalties are excessive," Hendrick said. "Right now, all of our options are being evaluated, including our personnel situation and a possible appeal to the National Stock Car Racing Commission. We'll take some time to decide on a direction and make an announcement regarding our plans for New Hampshire later in the week."(Hendrick Motorsports PR)(6-26-2007)

Re: Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson Fail Inspection

So it appears, at this point at least, that no appeal has been filed. Calling the penalties excessive was something he had to say just in case they do file the appeal.
