Easy Mike.... I think the penalty for the 24 was appropriate.... however with Knaus record I agreee with others that he should sit indefinitely.

i agree with you ........ Letarte is a 1st time offender i believe ...... but Knaus should have gotten more ........ treating them equal is an insult to Letarte

I agree that Knaus should have gotten alot more than he did. I think the drivers and Letarte's penalties were enough.

Well, as I have said before, I'm a part time, quasi, suedo HMS fan. I'm not an over the top fan of anyone. But I read the article that states the rules, which is what I wanted to see. And to me, it looks mighty specific. Can't cut or bend the fenders. Because this was such a blatent disregard for a rule that even the most non-technical of fans can understand, let alone a crew chief, I don't think the penalties were nearly big enough. Money means nothing to these guys, so that's a useless fine. Chad should be gone for the rest of the year. And it should be double the points deductions all the way around. Yes, the penalties were consistant. But when I read how clear the rule is, well it seems to me that the 24 and 48 chiefs were just about flipping NASCAR off with their bull####. It really pisses me off that they could be so stupid.

Well, thumbing his nose at the NASCAR powers-that-be is Knaus' favorite pastime, outside of thinking of new and more creative ways to cheat. After I thought about it, I really think the only way for Chad to stop this crap is for him to be suspended for the remainder of the season.

We're on the same page. The guy has been busted over 15 times for rules violations and suspended 4 times. Na$car needs to get a handle on him for good. This fine/penalty is just another swat on the wrist.

Been on another forum that has mostly Gordon, Johnson fans and have been taking alot of grief from them. As for this group, the only Gordon, Johnson fans I've seen have been rational, not rabid.

I'm curious ... do the members of this other forum that you refer to think the penalties are too extensive?

I think I'll stick with GTG. We may have strong opinions, but most are rational, as you say. I don't dare to venture off to any other forum. I think I'd probably get really pi$$ed ... don't need that added stress!

I use to go to different ones too. I have to say this is the best one I've been to. Nobody here treats you like your a dumb butt for asking a question. And even if you don't agree with them, nobody here berates you like you are just so far beneath them.

what I like about GTG is the folks are fans first (a few zealots, but still mostly rational) and the ex-sailor moderator who likes to drink the fines he levies on misbehavers "at the trailer".

reminds me of a guy in the San Antonio area recently, running for mayor (as the incumbent) .. against a beer drinking goat. the guy won, but only 'cause the goat couldn't figure out how to work the voting machine and ended up destroying a bunch of votes, mostly his own, as he stumbled out to the cooler for a refill... (it was a long ballot, 2 races .. couldn't do all that voting in one sitting!)

don't know why thinking about our beloved moderator reminded me of the goat... age does funny things to the memory cells.

almost forgot, penalties were "in line" but not what I'd hoped.

Also ..... everyone here makes moderating pretty easy. Only a few times have any of the moderators for the entire forum been put to any major test. We put the forum rules right out front and request that everyone follows, for me, the most important rule .... NO MEMBER BASHING. For 99.99999% pf the time we are very successful.
