This week we travel to Sonoma, California for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway. The race will be on TNT and will start at 3;30 PM. The "Live Chat" session will start at 4:30 PM also. Time for a little road course racing !!!

Here's what I found about Kyle:

Kyle Petty isn't crazy. He isn't trying to push our culture's driving-while-talking obsession to a whole new level. He isn't trying to be a hazard on the track.
No, the reason he's going to be broadcasting from inside his No.45 Dodge this Sunday at the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma is much more simple.
"'Cause I'm old," he said, of his foray into media. "I'm 47. I'm not going to drive a race car my entire life. Whether I have one more year or five more years, I'm on the backside of my career."
But Petty still loves the sport that is his birthright, loves hanging out at the track, loves talking to the drivers and bringing in new fans. So he agreed to broadcast six races this season for TNT as a way to transition to another phase of his career.
But when he saw that the annual race at Infineon fell smack in the middle of his TNT stint, he pitched the idea of broadcasting from inside the car.
"I really like the road course," he said. "I really want to do this race. We only have two road courses a year, so why miss 50 percent of the fun?"

I can't get over how different this track is from when I started going to it back in the 70s to watch motorcycle racing. There were no bridges and only one very small grandstand.

Keep in mind that in the 70's the NASCAR races were tape delayed ... sometimes by weeks. Thanks to us old fella's ... NASCAR is big now !!!

I really hope Kyle steps out of the car soon. We need some young blood to go with Bobby at PE. Kyle is good in the booth and I think he is a breath of fresh air. He says it like it is and isn't afraid to speak his mind and not fall in line kissing some of the bigger teams butt like DW.
