Re: Biffle to Re-Negotiate ???

yeah i am pretty sure he is not going to just eat what he owes Jamie, when he signed him it was one of the richest contracts in the sport. now obviously i am mcmurray fan and don't want to see him leave rousch unless he is going to hendrick or gibbs, so my opinion is biased. do i think jamie deserved the contract he got? no way nothing like that should ever be based on potential.

Well now we are on the same page. I believe in good contracts but they should be a base salary and then incentives for what you do accomplish, not what you did last time around. It should be like piece work in the factory. The more you make the more you ($) make.

Re: Biffle to Re-Negotiate ???

methinks the "Driver X" program hasn't worked for Jack. so far the "X" marks the spot of the next crash...

Kluever, Ragan, and Driver X wannabe, O'Quinn, spend a lot of time getting their fender's replaced...

Would be nice to see him in the 45 for Petty.

It would be nice but I think the status of Petty Ent equipment isn't up to Biffles standards.

I realize that is sort of an opinionated statement but it is no secret that the Petty's are behind in technology. Even they admit it. I think Greg has potential but for whatever reason it just isn't happening anymore with Rousch.

It wasn't happening anymore for Mark either. Look at him now.

Oh I don't think there is any question that Rousch is spread way to thin now.

Yup and it is really to bad because he has everything he needs except it is all just spread to thin. Four teams would be plenty and he'd probably be more of a contender for a championship.

Something has happened there but I don't think it's just him having 5 teams. Wasn't it in 2005(?) that all 5 of his teams were in the chase?

Don't forget a top 10 driver can make a top 20 car into a top 10 car. Biffle could turn Petty's around with the right crew chief.

Would be nice to see someone like Biffle in a Petty car. I think Petty just might would get to see victory lane some.

You're right. In 2005 he had five cars in the Playoffs. Then, if you remember, over the off season he started playing "Musical Crew Chiefs." He moved Flipper's crew chief, Bob Osbourne, to McMurray's team and Edwards just disappeared into the woodwork. McMurray was spectacular in his inability to do a single thing significant. Instead of trying to adapt to the new tires Goodyear used last year, Roush had all of his teams trying to work with the same setups they used in 2005 when they were so successful.

Then, at the end of last season they let Doug Richert (Biffle's crew chief) go to Red Bull and then, last month, Roush let Pat Tryson leave Biffle?

Finally, Jack himself admitted that he allowed (encouraged?) all his teams to fall behind in the new car development.

Personally I don't believe that his problem is having five team (though I think it's poetic justice for any team owner who ignores one of the most important rules in NASCAR history, the "Kiekhaeffer Rule; no team owner shall have more than two teams, to fall flat on his face). I think it is just plain poor management and poor utilization of resources.
