You describe the thing I continually complain about; the "Driver fan" v. the 'Race fan." You, Duck, are obviously a "Race Fan."

A Race fan can watch a race and draw objective conclusions. A driver fan watches a race but sees it through the myopic prism of "his/her driver's "eyes. They can be counted on to be objective about anything concerning the race and their driver.
