NASCAR Vacation

Can anybody help me plan a vacation to NC to take in some NASCAR shops, etc.?

I'm just planning a mini-trip there and so I googled and found DEI, Hendrick, and Joe Gibbs, (the ones I'm most interested in), but I'm wondering what else there is to do around any of those places.

Also, if you've been before what kind of experiences did you have?

thanks.

Be sure to take the track tour at Lowe's Motor Speedway. I took it a few years back. Very interesting. You ride around the track in a van and go to victory lane, see garage area, hear history of track...

Re: NASCAR Vacation

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm just wanting to do a brief trip--maybe 2-3 days. It could be longer if I find out there are a lot of cool things to do. Nothing is definite yet.

I was thinking about heading out later this month, or by mid July in any case.

I found a place online -- raceshoptours.net and thought it sounded interesting. But, maybe it's kind of goofy like those tours you get at Graceland or something.???

I'm looking forward to all of your suggestions.

Re: NASCAR Vacation

Hendrick is just down the street from Lowes. Ya don't need a tour to visit.

DEI is a shrine. Beautiful. The Taj Mahal. Ya gotta see it.

The industrial parks on either side of the interstate going thru Mooresville have most of the teams ensconced there. There's also a racing museum and the "NASCAR Cafe" in Mooresville.

Mooresville is about 30 miles from Charlotte. Just before you get to Mooresville, you pass Lake Norman. Many of the drivers have homes around the lake.
