Found this in an AP story just a few minutes ago and thought it was interesting: "It was not immediately clear what number Earnhardt will drive, and who will sponsor the car. Since starting in NASCAR, Earnhardt has driven the No. 8 Budweiser Chevrolet. It's possible that Hendrick could trade Busch's No. 5 to DEI for the No. 8, should he wind up signing with Earnhardt's old team." So do you think there's any shot the two companys will not only effectively trade drivers, but swap car numbers as well?

It would be good if they did. Especially if they keep the same sponsors. But do you see Teresa giving Jr anything he wants? Especially after the way they went public with all of it the way they did and some of the comments made.

Well, I'm sure Hendrick would probably have to sweeten the pot a bit, but I'm equally sure it'd be worth it for both him and his new driver.

I think that would depend on eather kelloggs wants to follow kyle, and when thier contract is up with HMS.

True. I haven't seen anything about Kyle's sponsor or anything. They said they were still working on Jr's sponsor. I know they said earlier that Budweiser has a clause that they can get out of their contract with DEI if Jr is no longer driving the #8.

Exactly how many Millions will she want for that number? Rick could trade her straight up, the 5 for the 8 but knowing how money hungry she is. She could say give me the 5 and 25 million for the 8... It's all about the monopoly. If JR doesn't get the 8, I'll feel bad for all his fans with the 8 printed on some sort of memorbilia.

Edit: Can anyone see HMS getting the number 08 from Nascar? What a conspiracy to make money.. the 8 leaves in 08 to drive the 08 for HMS to be put on the cover of Nascar Thunder 08...hmm I just think this heat is killing my brain cells..

I've got a ton of Jr and #8 stuff and I'll enjoy all of it just as much as I do now. Even if he doesn't drive the #8 anymore, he did when the stuff was purchased.
Oh wait maybe we should feel bad. Now I've got to get all new stuff when it comes out. Dang it.

well, on the positive side, if that happens look at all the Jr. fans that won't have to change their tattoos.

I get the feeling that Hendrick has a way of getting what he wants. If he really wants the 8, I'm sure he'll get it.
