| TNT Coverage I recently made the following statement in another thread: As far as the "announcers" go ("announcers used very loosely), today Mike Joy is about it. Dr. Jerry and Dick Berggren are great in the pits but keep them out of the booth. One of my major complaints is "The King of Hair Gel," Dick Weber. He's every bit as aggravating as DW and his Boy Wonder, Larry Mac. I feel that I owe it to the people I was critical of, and their fans, to say the following: TNT's coverage of the race Sunday was some of the best I've seen in quite awhile. Weber didn't have any long lapses of overly dramatic outbursts. Kyle Petty was outstanding. Nothing else to say. Wally seemed much more at ease and less argumentative that he was with Benny. He and Kyle seemed to mesh well. Larry Mac worked well in a separate technical role. He definitely does a whole lot better when he isn't in competition with Fox's Star Idiot. The pre-race show was too long, from what I hear (I didn't see it). Sunday was much, much better than anything I've seen so far from ABC/ESPN. Too bad TNT isn't doing the entire second half.

| Re: TNT Coverage I watched their coverage from start to finish, and feel at least somewhat qualified to discuss this. On the whole, I thought the coverage was solid if not a little dull. I like their legends segment; they've made it known they want to reach out to the longtime fan. They did a fairly good job trying to keep things interesting during the rain delay, rerunning only a few segments. The announcers were solid, but there was something about the broadcast that lacked the energy and life that the Fox broadcast has. I don't know if it was the announcers low-key approach, the understated graphics, the lack of things like the Crank It Up segment... it just seemed a little more pinned back than the competition. A lot of people will like that, I'm sure, but it didn't exactly do it for me.

| Re: TNT Coverage Being somewhat of a techno geek all I could see was the technical errors. The audio/video sync was terrible. I understand this was their first shot at it this year but they are not virgins in the field of broadcasting. Those are issues that drive me nuts (OK ... more nuts). There didn't seem to be a lot of zip in what the announcers were doing. I didn't see much of the event but what I did see wasn't real impressive. Sorry but I didn't miss the Jeff & DW show at all, so maybe TNT actually is better even with their faults. |

| Re: TNT Coverage I thought it was a great broadcast. i have to admit, i agree with the king kyle talks a little to much, but he still did a great job. I liked how clearly he explained things on the car and how the car reacts to this or that. He just gave good points and examples |

I have always liked Jeff Hammond even back when he was DW's crew chief. But it is sort of funny reading this in your post and looking up and seeing Tony Stewart staring back at me. lol |

I got my picture taken with him at Richmond one year. I thought I might pass out when he had his arm around em. |
