Its kind of like the guys that dont like the Patriots, or the Yankees. You just get tired of seeing the same guys winning all the time. Then there are some who got on the Gordon bandwagon because its easy to cheer for a winner. I believe his dominating days are over though, since the competition has risen to the level of the 24 team. In the 90s, I have seen Ray change two tires on a pit stop, when everyone else changed 4........and Gordon was still the fastest car and of course came out of the pits in front. Jack Rousch even accused Evernham of doctoring up their tires. It was that kind of dominance that turned a lot of people off to Gordon, some figured they were cheating and getting away with it.
Myself, I used to really hate Gordon, but these days, I tolerate him because he is not winning every other race like he used to. But I will never be a fan of his. |
Wait a minute, so you once hated Gordon because he was winning races and dominating in the 90's? Interesting.
The fact is, people hate Jeff Gordon for more reasons because of what people have stated, but they won't say it because they know its the truth. People say Jr is better than Gordon, when Gordon won 3 championships in 6 years, and Jr has been in Nextel Cup for how many years? 6, and how many championships has he won? 0. How many championships does Gordon have? 4, and he would have had 5 if NASCAR was under the Winston Cup points system. Jeff Gordon will have more wins than Dale Earnlardt in a shorter time span than Earnhardt got his wins. And the fact is people will hate him more if he passes Earnhardt for most championships, which is absolutely stupid to hate someone for. Dale Earnhardt did the same thing, he raced to win, and he moved people out of the way to do it, but I don't see people whining about Earnhardt, but yet people whine about Gordon when he does it. The fact of the matter is Jeff Gordon is one of the best drivers in the history of NASCAR, but people won't admit it for some reason.
My comments wasn't meant to be offensive, but some people need to take a look at the stats and show atleast some respect for a driver that has accomplished alot through his career.
