See, I don't like Jeff Gordon because i think he's a little girl scout. I don't doubt his racing ability but i just dont like him as a person. I'm angry with him after the Sheetrock 400, but even with Bristol
. He left his helmet on when he shoved Kenseth. If you're gonna do that at least take off the helmet and look him in the eye.

Given his current success I believe he will surpass Dale Sr at the least. He is right on him already for victories and with about 20 years to catch up for championships it's almost a given. Dominance becomes more and more difficult as new rules from NASCAR come into effect but with that many years to go I just don't see him not surpassing Sr. and Petty in Championships. Probably no one will ever pass Petty for victories but that was started in a totally different era. Whether you like him or not (and I'm no fan) he will be tough to hold back.

Seems like I remember someone telling me he was going to retire after 2009. It would be awesome if he did, but in reality he won't.

Count me as a former 24 hater as well. My reasons for hating him were typical I suppose:

I was a Dale Sr. fan
He is from California(sorry to any Californians here)
His golly gee persona
He made the races boring because he won every week

When he stopped winning all the time, I stopped hating him. As a matter of fact, I have actually rooted for him on occasion(if Jr. is out of contention of course.)

These days I can't understand the pure hatred. You have punks like Stewart and Busch who, although they hear their share of boos, also get cheered and have a good following.

I hear people say they hate Gordon because he wrecks people or because he is dirty. Then when I ask who they root for, I hear replies like: Stewart, Busch, Rusty Wallace etc.

Unfortunatley my fellow Earnhardt Nation friends seem to lead the way in Gordon hatred.

Great post NJ and welcome to the NASCAR portion of GoTeamsGo. You'll find many varied discussions here and we even have a weekly contest where we try to pick the 1st & 2nd place cars for each race. Join us there.

I agree that I can't understand the PURE hatred for any given driver. I also agree that the reason many hate him is because of his long run of victories. I don't particulalry care for his personality and I also hate seeing the same driver win week after week. Then again if your team is that good then that is what you want to do. I like to express my opinion about drivers and teams but I try to stay away from the "HATE" word. Every driver/team has redeemimg qualities and every team/driver has their faults. Who doesn't ???? I may not cheer for him constantly but if he is going to defeat a team that I like less than him, then he will get my vote .... that time.
