But, I do have one more comment. Jeff Gordon fans remind me of Oakland Raider fans. To a Raider fan, there is no other team in football except the Raiders, Gordon fans seem act like there is nobody else on the track or anyone else to talk about. At least that is the perspective I see on message boards. JG fans rarely jump into other discussions, unless its concerning Gordon.

This is not you personally Mike, just Gordon fans as a whole.

Thats not me. I know there are other people on the track like Jr, but I will defend Gordon 100%, especially with all of the hating he gets for no reason. Gordon fans don't let the hating get by.

No. Im asking the Gordon haters why you try to deny his stats and deny his abilities to drive. Gordon haters try to deny his stats and his ability to drive, when you can't deny it. From someone who considers himself neither a fan of, nor hater of Gordon, here is my take on why they hate him.

1. He is not a good 'ol boy
2. won early and often--many people feel that drivers have to "pay their dues" for some reason with a crappy team before finally hooking up with an elite team.
3. Because he won early and often, that meant he was beating up on Dale Sr--and #3 fans hated that.
4. He was a little cocky and arrogant, but hell, who wouldn't be after that kind of early success.
5. and once his security blanket of Ray Evenrham left, Gordon fell off the map, so to speak, proving that he was not all he was cracked up to be. His success had as much, or more, to do with Ray Evenrham as Jeff Gordon.

There are a mirad of other reasons, but this is my take.

The 3rd reason is why people hate him the most. Everybody has their struggles. The greats like Dale Earnhardt, Richard Petty, Derrell Waltrip, etc had their troubles, and Jeff Gordon is having his troubles now. He will get back on track though so Gordon haters, don't get excited.

I don't deny he is a good driver. Screw his stats. Just numbers, who gives a sh$#! Stats don't cover up being an arrogant a$$. It's like this. Dale Sr had impressive stats, yet not everyone liked him. Richard Petty had fans that did not like him, and look at his stats. It's in the eye's of the fans. Just cause a driver has an impressive stat list doesn't mean everyone is going to like him. I think he's an arrogant a$$, not like what he used to be(side note: If you can't remember the way he used to be... just look at Jimmie Johnson). Stats are crap.

Mike, please show my where I deny his ability to drive a racecar, or deny his stats and I will correct it. What I have said is he is a good driver, but not great. Stats are just that, statistics, which nobody can deny because they are fact. I am repeating myself, but I also have said his heyday was with Evernham, where he got most of his wins, poles and Championships. Since Ray left.........he was been just another top contender, not the domiinating team they were before.

And I concur with Quality........he is an arrogant a$$, and stats dont mean crap when it comes to liking or disliking someone. That always seems to be the Gordon Lovers defense..........his stats and past history. It's guess because he has nothing else........well, except a hottie model which keeps his inflated ego pumped.

Im not saying you are, Im talking about some Gordon haters. You haven't denied his stats at all. Of course, people aren't going to like him, but I wouldn't have a problem with some Gordon haters if they didn't try to deny his stats and abilities to drive. The Gordon haters who don't like him, but they admit his abilities to drive and his stats, I don't have a problem with. But the Gordon haters who try to deny his abilities to drive and his stats drive me crazy.
