Welll, I don't really love him, but he is a fantastic driver and teamed up with his crew chief and other support staff, his team is able to really pull some wins out of the bag!

First Jeff credited the win to his crew chief.

Second, it was a total gamble, Jeff had no tires, no brakes, & no gas left.
He stuck it out and won when he could have just as easily broke down.

Third, I always like the guy everybody hates. Besides he's a gentleman, a good sport, and a great sportsman!

I don't hate Jeff Gordon. But, I do love Ryan Newman. Newman definitely deserved to win that race. He discussed the loss on his weekly Alltel Racing Podcast and said that realizes it was a safety issue. Gordon just got lucky! Newman won his first race under these conditions. Go figure that it would come back to haunt him.

I really just think that Steve Letarte and the No. 24 team are making the right calls. Mike Nelson, Newman's new crew chief this season is making good calls and Newman's been very fast of recent, but like they always say - there is a lot of luck involved in racing.

Yes i would have to say i agree with you, steve letarte made a great call. Tht win was him more than it was jeff, and if that race would of gone green Letarte said that everybody would of pit anyway, so gordon would still have good track position. He was fast about half way through the run than the car faded. But Ryan Newman definately had the faster car and a win is very close for that race team.

I'm just back after a week and haven't read the rest of this thread yet, which I'm sure has many rebuttals, but take it easy! "Spit acid"? It's just racing!

Trust me, I'm no Gordon fan, but how can you say NASCAR gave Jeffey Poo another win? Did you see the track? I think NASCAR held off as long as they could, and Jeffey's team had a great strategy. That's what gave him the win.

Yep, that's the truth. If anything, NASCAR waited too long to call the race, and Newman almost had him. Gordon won and he earned it.

One night after winning the biggest race of the season an angry fan of the driver that finished 2nd approached my brother and spat out "You were just lucky!" My brother smiled and said "Yes ma'am, I was."

Fact is my brother had 3/4 of a lap on 2nd and had lapped the rest of field.

Point is, the secret to winning in racing is good preparation, good decisions during the race, an acceptable amount of skill, decent equipment, and a boatload of LUCK! Gordon had all that. Newman was just a tiny bit short on the luck.
