LONG POND, Pa. – Friday could have been worse for Kurt Busch.
Yes, Busch wrecked his primary car in practice and then was only 27th fastest at 166.119 mph in his backup No. 2 Dodge in qualifying for Sunday’s Pocono 500, which saw Ryan Newman – Busch’s teammate – win his third straight pole with a lap at 170.062 mph.

at least when he's calmed down he seems pretty rational .. too bad it doesn't carry over.....

I really think he's pressing harder than normal 'cause Schrub is doing better than he is even though Schrub's record is "crash or T5"!

Do you have that interview recorded, Duck. Probably not, but if you get a chance to view that interview again, look at Kurt's eyes. It looks to me as though he's picked up some sort of nervous tic with his upper eyelids? He sounded calm during yesterday's quals but something about his composure is waaay off the Kurt of pre-Dover days.

I think he may have had to have his driver's seat refitted for the addition of a foam rubber donut cushion.

I'm predicting that, for the foreseeable future, the persona we see out of the senior Busch will exhibit all the potency of Winnie the Pooh.

No, Bob .. didn't record it. But it's vivid in the old memory cells - course they're old technology.....

I did notice the eyelids were major puffy .. so he might have been crying recently. Foam rubber donut cushion fitting is painful - from experience.
