Busch docked 100 points

NASCAR has fined Kurt Busch $100,000 and docked him 100 championship points for the incident with Tony Stewart on Monday. He's also been placed on probation until Dec. 31, and Penske will lost 100 owner points as well. No suspension, though. Fair punishment?

Yes and no. Because there were no actual injuries it seems that the punishment isn't just a slap on the wrist. 100 points is a lot and both owner and driver got hit. Had there been some physical injury to a crew member I would say that a stiffer penalty would need to be imposed.

Re: Busch docked 100 points

I don't really agree with it completely. I think because it was on pit road and could have injured someone he should have had to sit out at least one race. He got the same penalty that Mikey got from fuel additive, that wouldn't cause someone to get hurt. The same as Jr for bolts, that wouldn't hurt someone. Meanwhile, his could have hurt someone. Nascar said they were going to look at the severity of the infractions when determining the penalty. Well I think they dropped the ball on this one. I think his was more serious than the others. The point reduction and fine are good, but they should have made him sit out a race or two.

If Busch doesn't make the Chase, those 100 points could be the deciding factor. So yes, this penalty is very severe. I remember one year a similar situation to this, NASCAR just fined them $50,000 dollars and placed them on probation. Now, NASCAR is docking driver and owner points. So yes, this is a step in the right direction for NASCAR. Tony Stewart said Busch shouldn't be suspended, so I guess that was the deciding factor lol. But I agree, he should have been suspended for 1 or 2 races.

Exactly, which backs up my point. 100 points could be the deciding factor of him not making the Chase.

This also moves Mark Martin up one spot to 11th. Martin Truex is now in th etop 12. The list at NASCAR.Com shows Kurt in 17th, not 18th. A couple of good runs will get him right back in the hunt.

Re: Busch docked 100 points

100,000 and 100 points..... typical NASCAR penalty these days. They pretty much have to fine 100,000 and 100 points for ANY infraction to d with the car. If its a fender, spoiler, wing or fuel additive the bar has been set. To give a lesser penalty opens the door for favoring one driver over another. Remember the Jeff Gordon incident where his car failed post race inspection? That was handled poorly in my opinion. They shoulda been fined.

Now, this is totally different. This could have set the standard for poor judgement and unsafe driving. They should have fined him money, points and parked him for a race. That way knuckleheads 'might' think twice.

He's tied with Greg Biffle but still listed as 17th.

Re: Busch docked 100 points

Keep in mind that he did lose more than 100 points. He was not allowed back on th etrack last week so there was a point loss there also.

Wait, Jeff should have been fined for something that wasn't his fault? I have to disagree with you. That incident happend on the track, not in the garage.

I agree with you, they should have suspended Busch for a race.

Re: Busch docked 100 points

I don't care for the NASCAR website but since it is their points system I'll go with what they offer.
