Re: Busch docked 100 points

You're right Mike, what should have happend was the team should be fined, but the points should be gone too.

Not picking on Jeff, but if the car don't pass inspection then its gotta be a penalty. The reasoon for my thinking is so that teams may think twice. I may have picked a bad example there.

I'm not saying your wrong, but I don't understand how you can fine someone for something that wasn't under the teams control, it happend on the track while they were racing.

How about the Michael Waltrip incident? Waltrip was penalized the same amount as Busch, but the crew chief was suspended because of it. Busch could have potentially injured someone, yet he doesn't get parked for a race? That's my issue I have with NASCAR right now.

Re: Busch docked 100 points

Going out on a limb here, I think the assessed penalty was a bit "wimpy." I think NASCAR could have done a little better and sent a better message.

Actually, he got docked more than 100 points and $100K because immediately after the incident NASCAR parked his dumb butt and made the team put the car on the hauler. He was damaged but he probably could have salvaged a finished which might have gotten him 40-50 more points and a few more dollars.

What torques my jaw a bit is thew fact that he got the same fine DEI got for using an illegal part on a COT. NASCAR is effectively saying that it is no more important for a driver to use his car as a weapon, putting a non-driver's safety in jeopardy, than it is to tinker with the sacred COT. personally, I believe THAT message STINKS!

Harvick got suspended a couple years ago (?) for recklessly entering the pits after a race, sliding up behind the NASCAR trailer, and letting NASCAR know what he thought of their rule enforcement. After Dover it might seem that NASCAR finds its being publicly challenged more of a problem than the safety of the pit crew?

What would I suggest? (Not that it matters one iota) Let's see...

First: No suspension. He deserves it but this is the new fan-driven NASCAR and there are probably 10-12 people who actually buy tickets to see Kurt race. (Driver fans...Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr) We can't offend these darlings, can we? So we let him race for free.

He could get a maximum of 190 points if he wins this week. Let's penalize him 190 points.
He could win around $250K if he wins, right? Let's fine him... Oh, let's say $250K

That way he effectively sits out a race but yet the Kurt fans get to cheer him and the Kurt haters (apparently almost all the free world!) get to boo him and probably throw things at him.

For what it's worth (absolutely nada) that's my solution.

Bob, I think y'er onto sumthin

How about the fine/penalty be assessed as follows: You loose whatever you win in points and money for the next "X" number of races. Pick your favorite "X" like 3 or 5 or 10...
