OH My ... I thought you would know. Kobe beef steak. The cows never leave the stall and are beer fed. No muscular meat. I had some for the first time in 1972 in Hong Kong, a place called Jimmy's Kitchen (Bob, RD ... ever been there ?). Honestly you could put the side of a fork right through it with zero effort. Best steak you'll ever eat.

Sorry, my friend, but that is SO wrong! Bob will know where I'm coming from.

Enough about that.

Re: Kurt Busch's Punishment Should Be ?

hehehe... you know, you could use the Kobe beef reference for a guy that does nothing but kick back in his recliner and drinks beer all day. Start callin' him Mr. Kobe. He might get a bit disturbed if you put bbq sauce in his after shave bottle.

I'll stick with tri-tip... I can marinade it in Woody's cook-in sauce with some Jack Daniels mixed in, and it tastes just fine bbq'ed.

LSC, you forgot the primary descriptor: each animal has it's own masseuse/masseur. that and the beer are why they are so tender .. and expensive!

had a Kobe in Hong Kong, but don't remember the name of the place. luckily it was cheaper back then .. my $100/month paycheck had to cover more than a steak meal!!!

Why feel stupid ??? At $40 - $150 per pound not many can afford it and probably not to many supermarkets even carry it.

Re: Kurt Busch's Punishment Should Be ?

I'd heard of Kobe beef before and just hearing was as close as I'd ever get to paying the price of it.

I'll never eat it. Same reasons why I don't eat milk-fed veal or foie gras (the enlarged liver of ducks and/or geese). Enough personal information ...

By the way, parmesan oregiano is cheese and priced at $20 per pound! Yikes!

Re: Kurt Busch's Punishment Should Be ?

I was watching Iron Chef today, and guess what the "secret ingredient" was. Kobe beef! I almost fell off my couch! I never heard of such a thing until a few weeks ago because of GTG, and now it's everywhere! I thought it was Kobe, as in Jobe, but it's pronounced Kobie. They did some pretty fancy-a$$ stuff with it!

I still wont eat it!

(Thanks, LSC, for pointing me back to this thread!)
