| Bill France Jr. dies As they announced during today's race, former NASCAR chairman Bill France Jr. has died at the age of 74. According to the Associated Press, "He died at his Daytona Beach, Fla., home, NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said... France had been in poor health for much of the last decade -- he was diagnosed with cancer in 1999. Although he was in remission, the extensive treatments took a toll. He never regained his full strength, often had difficulty breathing and had taken to using a motorized scooter to get around." What will you most remember Bill France Jr. for?

| Re: Bill France Jr. dies The unfortunate thing about being around something so long is you know over time you will have to deal with these things happening. People from your era will be on the way out. The fact that Bill was so close to the fans of his era makes it easier to bring up good memories, which I'm sure everybody here will have. I really wish I could have heard his opinions on what Little Brian has done with the sport he and his father made. |
