Re: new (few questions)

thanks racer duck on the fantasy breakdown ...

what do the leagues do in the 3rd segment, say if a team has three of the 12 drivers and another has only one of the 12 drivers.

do they start over and re-draft or continue on and just hope your drivers qualify? that's where i'm unclear. thanks.

Re: new (few questions)

in Yahoo you can pick a different driver for each race if you want ..... your line-up is only set for that one race

the points you earn are race by race so the chase really has nothing to do with it on the fantasy side

i was hoping to create a league where you keep the same drivers you drafted each week, and a driver can only be on one team at a time (unless they are traded or dropped). There must be a league like that out there. i was hoping to find out if those formats started over during the chase (since a team could have 2 or 3 of the remaining 12 drivers, while another team could only have 1 or even none) or if not, what they would do.

don't know of any of the big fantasy leagues for any sport that only allow an athlete/driver to be on one team at a time - there's just too many folks playing for the number of athletes/drivers to go around. guess that's why they call it "fantasy"...

however, if you want, you can certainly do that on Yahoo or ESPN, but you're limiting your opportunities for scoring when you do...

Re: new (few questions)

You might want to check out the one at Nascar. I haven't played it in a couple of years, but you draft the drivers and then after that you can only trade with other members in your league. And it's only 5 players. That may be something along the lines of what you are looking for.

Re: new (few questions)

If I remember correctly, at Nascar the driver can only be on one team, unless he is traded with another player for another driver.

Re: new (few questions)

I just looked at NASCAR.COM's fantasy racing leagues. unless you want to pay to join, the only thing open right now that works like you want is Ultimate Fantasy League: you have 100 bucks to spend and bid at auction for up to 4 drivers. That's your team (4 drivers), you bench 1 each week and get points for the 3 others as they finish. You can trade with other players or sign "free agents". there are 6 teams in a league (you choose public or private when you start)

I couldn't remember exactly how it was done, been a couple of years since I played it. Thanks for the info.

Re: new (few questions)

MSN has a league. Lots of folks in it. You can start your own league within the league or even join a public league already underway. Season is spilt into two 18 week segements. Each week you can choose 4 drivers, but you can only use each driver 4 times during each half. It's interesting and fun.

Re: new (few questions)

I'm back guys and gals!

Hey, Ellison!

You will learn more about NASCAR from the folks on this forum than any other resource available. Good choice.

Now, your questions, albeit simple, are loaded!

1) Favorite Drivers: The late Dale Sr., Dale Jr., Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Mark Martin, Ricky Rudd ... among others. How'd that come to be? Part personality, part talent. You will find that many of us like different drivers. Don't jump on the band wagon!

2) Gordon: Well, I liked him when he was coming up. But as previously stated, he became a whining baby ... just like Rust Wallace. That turned me against him. He doesn't whine as much now, but I still don't cheer for him. Don't get me wrong ... I would never throw trash at him or wish him any harm. In fact, when he crashed at the Coca-Cola 600, I was concerned. That was a hard hit. BTW: I don't hate Gordon because he's good looking!

3) Can't help you with the Fantasy thing.

"New guy" questions are not annoying. We love sharing our knowledge and commentary!

Move is complete! Just have to sell my townhouse down in Mass.

I missed you guys during the Coke 600! I thought it was a great race. Unexpected finish.

Lots of news over the past week or so, huh?

Good to be back to my racing friends!
