Let's not forget that if it wasn't for the sponsors and the huge amount of money they pay to advertise during a race, where would NASCAR be?

However, the stats above are ridiculous.

Oh we'd probably be racing cars that resembled cars that we drive. We wouldn't have to listen to the drivers thank a bunch of corporate sponsors. We'd probably not have fans that toss trash on the tracks .... I guess you're right. We need all that corporate sponsorship.

You're funny!

Two more points:

1. I may have mentioned this before, forgive me if I repeat myself. I saw a news clip several years ago where a guy reviewed the tapes of Cup races and timed the exposer for each car/sponsor. Great job! I'd love to do that! Anyway, each car sponsor received a report on their time on the screen, air-time. Think about it ... other than "follow the leader" coverage, every time there's a wreck, how many times are the cars involved shown in replays? Air-time! That's what it's all about.

2. Something's going on with the fan base. As you know, I've attended Loudon for many years, gave up my tickets, and am still receiving mail from NHIS to buy tickets for the July Cup race. It was impossible to get tickets just a few years ago. Now, they are begging me to buy them. Strange.

Just did a quick search and seats are avaiable in the $70-110 range. Not real bad.

I paid $80 for row 12 on the front stretch South over the past few years. Love the track. Boring racing, but the facility is great ... lots of bathrooms!

$100 for a row 27 seat in the beginning of turn 4. No lines to the bathroom from where I watch the race. No limit on beer and no drunk next to me cheering for "_______"

I'll fill in that "_______" with "you know who", though he doesn't have many fans in New Hampshire.

Turn 4? Yuk! That's for rookies. You want to be in the Main Grandstand on the front stretch coming out of turn 4 or going into turn 1. As close to the Start/Finish as you can get.

Been there and done that. We sat at the start/finish line but not up high enough. Turn 2 wasn't as visible as I'd like . 4.5 hours to get out of the parking lot. NOT FUN !!

I hear you! I sat about three pits across from the end of pit road. I like being in the 12th row so I can see into the cars, and it's less stairs to climb. I couldn't see the cars in turn 4, but I had a ball. Anyone who is a fan hasn't lived until they attend a race.

Learned the hard way not to park in the track lot. What a nightmare! Loudon has improved over the years as far as traffic goes, but it still could stand some improvement.

We got way off topic ... sorry!

Ahhh, Loudon. I was raised right off of 106 up there before it was built. I bounced around alot since then.

I remember I would spend an entire Friday watching Cup practice and qualifying and then watch a good Busch North and/or east race. Great place to spend a day, and everything is nearby. Gas stations, Wal Mart, uhh... well ok maybe thats it, but still...

Anyway, I'm at a point where I've stopped caring about the commercials and what not because they've always been there. I guess I just got used to it.

Small world! I first went to Loudon to watch Busch North and the Modifieds. I dated someone who was on the pit crew for the Mods.

My first "big" Loudon race was the Indy cars. The traffic was so bad, I swore I would never go again. Then, I met a friend who wanted to see the Indy cars. I got tickets, and there I was again. This was back when Nigel Mansel (or something or other) was tearing it up. Then the Cup cars came.

I don't think little Loudon New Hampshire was prepared for the crowd!

Commercials? I'm with you. I don't even pay attention. I typically find a movie to watch and bop back and forth from the race to a movie.
