i suppose it is partially the media's fault ....... i was just as tired of hearing about the 2 Super Bowl coaches being black and not just coaches ..... just like id rather hear of her being a driver and not always prefaced with the fact she is a woman

You make a good point, and I would much rather have that. Lets just say Danica Patrick is the Jr of NASCAR, but I'm not going there.

ya just did .. once out, ya can't take it back!!!

I agree w/ Simon. sure she's cute .. so is my little dog "Freckles". and she's doing ok in racing .. but she's not burning up the track. in the "other thread" I pointed out another female driver in the race (her first appearance), who seems to have Ms Patrick beat hands down in the driving talent department, but all most people saw was her "airbags" (Ms. Patrick must have been in the wrong line for airbags....)

main point is, Ms Patrick has had plenty of time to show her skill, but hasn't. she's an average driver in IRL with a cute face. nothing more. so kill the hype.

Holy cow, apparently Chuck Norris really DID roundhouse kick you right upside the head yesterday, causing some major brain damage for you to make that statement! And I say this all with much love, Simon. What did I miss? Who is whining? Don't lump us all in the same category please. First of all, whether men an women alike want to admit it, golly gee gomer men and women are actually different! Physically and mentally. There are going to be some areas where we are just not going to be able to compete head to head. Some women don't want to hear it. Now there are some areas where women can definately compete on even ground. Intellectually (I probably didn't spell that right, wouldn't it figure), of course. Darts - takes good hand/eye coordination, but not superior strengh. Bowling - yeah, you guys may have bigger balls but women can and do compete all the time with the boys, myself included. And I win - a lot. Golf is tough because of that first hit off the tee. Guys will get more distance, usually. The gals may have a shot if they can be more accurate than powerful. Soccer - let me put it this way. My two daughters and I played in a coed league until recently. They are scholarship winning players, superior by far to the average player, male or female. I currently suck, my glory days are over and playing against college kids half may age does not help me look any better. However, we'll go 3v3 with you any time and that ball will get stuffed so far down your face you will never find it. (Remember, much love here. ) Which brings me, finally, to auto racing. There is no reason why men an women cannot compete head to head. It's all about the machine. Given equal equipment, I cannot think of a valid reason why a female cannot be the next Gordon, Wheldon, pick a driver. There are so few women in motor sports that I have to think that there are simply fewer women with the desire and drive to be in such a tough and possibly life threatening sport. But there will come a day. It's already happening. Danica is holding her own. We don't know about Milka. But let's not forget Shirley "Cha Cha" Muldowney. She kicked some major male bootie for sure. And today we have Ashley Force, who has indeed proven she can compete with, and win against, the biggest of the big, even her won father.

So, our "ladies crap" (did you really even say that??!!) will never be done away with because there is a place for it. And for some of us ladies - we will be competing head to head with you in your male dominated areas and, eventually, some us are are going to take you to school. I've got two kids who are living it right now. My kids and I, including my son, are not "sit in the stands" types. I'm done "whining" for the moment. Hope I don't come across as a cocky biotch, because I'm really not. (P.S. The Danica thing is getting a little old, I admit it.)

The media is the largest enemy !!! For a very large percentage they allow us to see what they want us to see. On the other hand Danica is using her sex to play up her popularity a bit also. Somewhere on this forum there is a photo of her in a racing suit in a somewhat provacative pose. She agreed to that. It was forced upon her. I don't know if she does but you certainly cannot complain about being treated differently when you act differently.

Good shot RD. That has been my take on her all along. She is cute and that is it. Cute like a 14 year old. My cat is pretty !!

i do appreciate you mentioning that your rant is not hate filled ...... because of that i read your entire post and feel we can hash this out

that's a problem i have and no it isnt with all women

i never doubted that for a minute ....... i could see women playing several sports much more physical then bowling or darts ........ hell i have started a thread here wondering when we will see a female NFL kicker ..... i figure some female soccer players could do it ...heck i even wonder why there arent any women playing baseball even in the minors, it doesnt take super strength to hit a single or play in the field..... so im not anti-female im anti-feminist

yes i did really say that

a problem i have is when i hear people whine that the WNBA players dont make as much money as the NBA players and things like that

or how about when a high school football team's ticket sales have to be evenly spread through all the sports to keep them going ?

naw all is well in my crazy little world ......... if everyone agreed with me or instantly saw my point of view i would be bored

Re: Tired Of Danica Patrick

Boys and Girls are we really even talking about Danica the driver here anymore?...We have ventured into her looks with an array of opinions, the media...man and women in general...etc...

Simon, my man, why even call this a Danica thread?...call it what it is...your general feelings about women in sports in general...

Whoa, did this ever get off on a tangent. How did it go from Danica=overrated to this?

my point was that in many circles the women are not treated equal ....... they are fawned over and drooled on ......... like Danica

Re: My General Feelings About Women In Sports (AKA Tired of Danica Patrick)

Not sure it's bad but Danica has nothing to do with NASCAR. Wouldn't bother me to see all of the threads about her disappear.

Bash the drivers all you want. Don't bash their gender.
