| Keyshawn And Nascar? Former NFL All-Pro wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson confirmed his retirement from the NFL yesterday, announcing he will join ABC/ESPN as an NFL studio analyst this fall. "The opportunity to transition from active player to broadcaster at the level of ESPN and ABC was too great to pass up," Johnson said during a conference call. "With teams attempting to sign me, and multiyear playing offers on the table, I realized that I have accomplished all of my goals as a professional football player." The first overall pick by the Jets in the 1996 draft, the outspoken Johnson will appear on both the Sunday and Monday Night Football pregame shows on ESPN. He will be working alongside Bill Parcells, his former coach, on Monday Night Countdown, as well as on a Friday night ESPN Radio show with Parcells and Chris Mortensen. But Johnson's role will extend beyond NFL work. "My deal with ESPN/ABC, on ABC and entertainment isn't just a football-type situation," Johnson said on Sirius NFL Radio. "There are other platforms that I'm going to be used on, i.e. NASCAR, NBA, Major League Baseball." ESPN declined to elaborate on what specific roles Johnson will play beyond his NFL work, but did confirm he will be used in other areas. Johnson is the third major offseason acquisition for ESPN, who signed Parcells and former running back Emmitt Smith in the months following the departure of Michael Irvin. | Re: Keyshawn And Nascar? Valid point... though I think it has more to do with little France trying to get the football crowd in.... got news for him and the other idiot Na$car brass... it won't happen. Cause when it comes down to it..... the NFL has their fans... and Na$car has their fans... and when the two sports are on at the same time, the fans stick with their sport of choice.

| Re: Keyshawn And Nascar? Honestly, I think that Keyshawn should just stick to being a commentator for football. I don't know about you but I don't know whether Keyshawn follows the other sports in which he says he'll be commenting on and I wouldn't want to listen to somebody "trying" to comment on a sport I'm watching. |

I'm a huge fan of both sports. I am a huge MLB fan as well. When all three are on at the same time I find it hard to watch. I can't just stay on one and watch. I have to switch between the two or three. That is why I got a dvr. As for Ke$hawn and Na$car. I'm one to try something at least once or twice. If he studies up, and actually knows what he is talking about then bring him on. He did just spend a year in charlotte, maybe it rubbed off on him. I am also one of the few that loved Dennis Miller on MNF so who knows I may just be down for anything. |

| Re: Keyshawn And Nascar? Like D. Wit, he likes to hear his own voice and like N. Wit he spends way too much time getting said what needs to be said. Like most overpaid jocks he has an inflated view of his own importance and relevance. For some reason the "Nit-works" always want a "face" and don't care if there's anything behind it. I'll wait for his replacement....
