Martinsville Race

So what's the crystal ball say for the race at Martinsville Speedway?

Mr. Gordon has done pretty well here in the past. Johnson, Wallace, Kurt Busch, LaBonte & Craven are the other recent winners. Smoke's got 1 win back in 2000. I'm guessing Rusty won't be in contention this year but who do you think will get the pole & the checkered flag?

And vote in the poll, will a previous Martinsville winner take the flag or will it be a 1st timer here?

Re: Martinsville Race

Just for the sake of Petty Ent. and Bobby Labonte I'd like to see a win for them. Realistically it probably won't happen. I do have him as one of my four fantasy drivers this week though. GO Bobby !!!!

Re: Martinsville Race

Gut feeling says somebody unexpected wins this weekend I'm taking Jeff Burton

or as a real dark horse:
Robby Gordon

Though as you know I'm personally hoping they all get "SMOKED"!

Re: Martinsville Race

As I read this, the qualifying is already over, so the polesitter is already known. Pit stalls are a huge advantage at Martinsville, and since I dont care for the guy on the pole, I'm going to go with Tony Stewart starting from 3rd. That is, provding his temper doesn't get the best of him.

Anyone remember when Jeff (crybaby) Gordon bumped Tony out of the way at Martinsville a few years ago? Tony returned the favor and spun him out on pit road when the race was over.

Re: Martinsville Race

Gosh I had forgotten that one. guess with Jeff's new darth vader image Tony won't mess with him now.

Just kidding...hope there is some good fender action though, Martinsville's pretty dull wthout it.

What does that have to do with guessing who might win, but you know what remember when Tony had his tire fall out at Martinsville last year, now that was funny cause he led like 1/2 the race, and you know what was the coolest part of the race, Jeff came from 4 laps down to WIN baby.

Absolutely nothing, but my guess (Tony Stewart) was posted in the paragraph above it.........unlike your guess which is no where to be found.

Re: Martinsville Race

Geeze, guys. Let me show you the way....

Feel free to discuss anything about the martinsville race here. Yes, I asked for a prediction but it's not like recalling past races is off topic in a thread titled "Martinsville Race."

The good & bad about previous winners is fine. Harassing a driver is fine. Harassing another member is not.

So far, 2/3 of the poll voters say a new guy can't win. Jr not have a chance? Biffle, McMurray, Newman, Kahne... any takers?

Re: Martinsville Race

Good job at once again promoting good will amoung posters Russ. I really don't care who wins. A new face would be nice but more than anything it would be nice to see the tempers kept in check.

Boy, you got that right! I watched the truck race today, it and it was pretty much a snoozer. It is sooo hard to pass there, they just ride around in single file. The only way to pass a decent car is bumping them out of the way.

Hopefully the Cup race is better and they can somehow run two-wide on that paperclip. I dont see that happening though, which is why I mentioned earlier about qualifying being a big deal for track position. Tony was 2nd quickest in Happy Hour practice, so he should be tough. But Johnson was 3rd quick and will also be a factor since he starts on the pole. Brian Vickers was 1st in the final practice times, but he will have to get around Tony and Jimmie to be a factor. Its going to be a long race and anything can happen. Pit crews have to really be on their toes for this one!

Re: Martinsville Race

I'd love for a Junior win .. but my main focus this year is Top 10 in points. As long as we stay there .. consider the weekend a win.

Re: Martinsville Race

Im what you call a big picture fan haha. Sure, i LOVE wins and dominating races ... but i'd take an 8th place finish and an average day over leading 475 laps and finishing 35th hehehe. its all about making it to the chase now in nascar ... which is pretty darn fun!
