| Re: Your best/worst race experience! Years ago (ok decades) I was at Martinsville for a race. It was hot enough to fry an egg and all that stuff. I was about 12 at the time and back in those days you could pretty well stretch out. Coolers of any size were permitted and people made good use of that. Some young guys seated behind us had brought in a huge cooler stocked full of Miller High Life. They carried it in one guy on each end. It took some work because it was a long haul frm the parking lot! I remember their brand because Miller High Life was the sponsor of Bobby Alison at the time and he won the race. Of course they were happy. Then again by the time the race ended they were just plain ol happy if ya know what I mean. They had been drinking all day and were as drunk as you could get, one of the three in particular. This guy had gone way off the deep end and now was nearly comotose. He lay down just moaning completely incoherant. His friends had a dilema. With the race over they had to decide whether to carry him or the cooler out. They chose him although, if the cooler had been full I think he'd have lost. As the made there way out they carried him just like they had the cooler...one on each end. Well into the field the track called a parking lot the guys encountered a ditch about 3 to 4 feet deep and 3 to 4 feet wide. No way to go around it and with about a foot of smelly, dark, sewage-like water they weren't about to go through it. So they decided to jump it. Keep in mind they were also drunk. So they get a running start each holding an end of their friend and jump. One made it. One didn't and the friend ended up on his back laying in the muck. They looked at him wallowing around and moaning and decided the cooler would have been a better option. They walked off and left him there. As people passed by gawking at him I couldn't help but think of the irony of Miller in victory lane and it's effets lying in a ditch outside the track. I decided that day never to end up in that position. Last edited by rave20 : 04-01-2006 at 11:06 AM. |

| Re: Your best/worst race experience! Rave20, that is a familiar story, one I have seen many times years ago going to rock concerts. The moral is "know when to say when". When you get older, you hopefully get wiser. I wish I had a good story about my times going to Sears Point, but nothing that really stands out. Unless running out of gas between Novato and Vallejo California in a 2 4barrel equipped, 383 Dodge PowerWagon counts. |

| Re: Share Your NASCAR Stories We've been to Dover quite a few times, the one time we spent the weekend (campground - Lake Bonnie) that's another story in itself! We got there mid afternoon Friday, starvin', we stop at the Longhorn steakhouse, then went to the track. We went to the trailers and walked around to the first turn of the track. Now, I have a tendency to lolligag, my husband is about 25 yards ahead of me and this guy asked me "Hey, do you like Rusty Wallace?" I said "Yeah, my husband really likes him." He then asked me if we would like to have dinner with Rusty. By now, my husband's realized that I've stopped, he comes back, and the guy says he has tickets to have dinner with Rusty, but he can't make it because he's working at the track. We didn't believe him, he knew it too, he showed us the tickets. He said Miller gave them to the beer distributors in the area, and it's a real deal. So we took the tickets, and 1 and half hours later, we are at the Sheraton having dinner with Rusty. First there was a Question and Answer, then dinner, and he sat down at the table right next to us! |

| Re: Share Your NASCAR Stories o.k. here's another Dover story: sept 1991 my first race ever , harry grant won lapping the field (dale unlapped his self coming to the flag) the busch race had been rained out and we were there for the weekend and decided to stay til monday see the busch race and miss the traffic. well anyone from delaware knows you can't buy beer on sundays. well we finished what we had bought for the race and were walking around finding out all the liquor stores were closed, we saw these two guys walking by and we asked them where to get some beer. (now we all were feeling no pain)one of the 2 answered, we sell ya a case if we can see her t**s.talking about my well blassed G/F(now wife) again we were drunk, and earlier before the cup race we got posters signed by a snap-on model. I fired back with "you can't see a snap-on girl's t**s for free!" thier mouths dropped open! "you guy's want to party with us at our camp ? we said sure you some beer? oh yeah!!! our camp is up on the other side. they said. now my GF car was 1990 nissan something and it was one that talked it's warning to you. we decided that we'd walk over to her car ,these 2 guy's and step brother could sit out the rear hatch and we'd drive to thier camp. well like said before it had rained, when we got around the back side of the track we got stuck big time. these guy's were more than happy to push this snap-on girls through anything that got them to party with her. with an amazed look on thier faces as the car anonced "your door is ajar" and "the key is in the ignition" they pushed us through a mudd hole that would swallow a monster truck, my GF driving they couldn't get madd at the mudd being spit all over them. we finally get back to thier camp and they treat my GF like a queen, let us drink all the beer we wanted(they were well stocked) took many pictures with my wife, she was signing autographs and all ,she even signed this guy's leather winton cup jacket!. we had a ball that night. the next day my wife felt bad about signing the guy's jacket with she was really a daycare teacher, I told her not to worry those guys got one hell of a story to tell about the time they party with a snap-on girl, they even got the pic's and autographs to prove it! I'll bet that guy has that jacket framed hanging on a wall! best time I ever had at dover. hey lake bonny, isn't that over in maryland ???

We got there, they had a sign posted saying "no fishing" (didn't plan on it anyway) because of some "Bacteria" issues |
