DEI & RCR Engine Shops Merge

Was watching the Cup practice earlier and they had an interview with DEI's man in charge of their engine shop (Steve Hmiel) He said Teresa and Richard have been working on this for a while and decided to make it happen. Next week they are supposed to do some testing "in the desert" and will combine their effort, minimize the amount of equipment and personnel each takes to the test and that both would work together to improve the engines to be used by both teams. He also said he hoped this was a precursor to doing the same thing in the chassis shops.

Does this mean there's a possible merger between the two organizations in the future?

This actually hurts his chances to go to RCR. Jr left DEI because of the equipment, so why would Jr go there, yet he would run DEI's engines? That makes no sense to me.

Re: DEI & RCR Engine Shops Merge

Thats what I was thinking. He left DEI because of the equipment they were having. But on the other hand, they may have good engines now since they'll be working with RCR.

To me, this has all the makings of a DaimlerChrysler sorta deal.

I don't believe that there is any doubt about a merger. However, I STILL hold on to a belief that a wild card in this entire DEI thing is John Menard. I think with, or without RCR, he'll play a part in DEI in some fashion.

Re: DEI & RCR Engine Shops Merge

Is this really any different than the Rousch/Yates engine deal?

Absolutely no different Nevada except that Jr is in the middle of it. Somewhere in the back of my silly little mind I wonder if DEI is doing this to attempt to keep Jr out of RCR ??? I know it all sounds stupid but the scorn of a woman ............

Re: DEI & RCR Engine Shops Merge

I don't think she's doing it to keep Jr from going to RCR. Richard said he approached her about this about 2 months ago. I can see where they would both benefit from pooling their resources and all that. But since they are doing this, it's gonna surprise me if Jr goes to RCR now. Even Kyle Petty said the same thing we have, it means that if Jr goes to RCR he'll be bascially using the same engines he left DEI to get away from.
