Marcos Ambrose NASCAR Debut

Marcos Ambrose, who won back-to-back Supercar Championships in 2003 and 2004, is set to make his U.S. debut in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series' Kroger 250 at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday. Ambrose, 29, was the first driver in seven years to win back-to-back V8 Supercar titles and the first in three decades to win four consecutive races. What do you think of his chances at Martinsville this weekend?

Re: Marcos Ambrose NASCAR Debut

If I'm not mistaken, the Supercar series are sedans that run in Australia, and are held strictly on road courses. If that's the case, he'll get eaten alive at Martinsville his first time there. I'm guessing he will be in spin cycle at least 3 or 4 times. Martinsville is no girleyman track, and will be a tough one for a first time oval racer.

Re: Marcos Ambrose NASCAR Debut

Yeah, its a road race series. Can't say I know much about it myself, but I guess this Ambrose is a big star.

"I don't know if this sport is ready for Marcos Ambrose," Eddie Wood, the co-owner of the Wood Brothers/JTG Ford F150 he's going to be driving, told the Associated Press yesterday. "He's something else. He's the biggest racing star his country has known. We believe he's going to be all of that, if not more, here in America."

I guess we'll just have to wait to see for ourselves, eh?

Looks like he was holding his own somewhere mid-pack until he got caught up in someone elses wreck. The collision took out his radiator, so he's in the garage area now. They were saying he is one hilarious guy, and fun to be around. Most Aussies I have met are like that.
