NASCAR - The New Car

"The New Car" - that's the name the Fox guys are using during today's race to describe the Car of Tomorrow. I guess it makes sense, considering that it's been used for a number of races now. Hard to say it's the car of tomorrow when it's already been used for a few months. You guys like the new name? And come to think of it... it's not exactly going to be "the New Car" forever either. So what the heck do they call it a year from now?

I think by this time next year, it'll be "the only car" .. at least if NA$CAR has their way - and I expect them to......

Re: NASCAR - The New Car

AS long as they are racing. I really don't get why folks think it's that ugly. The only things are the splitter and the wing, and you don't really notice them that much when it's moving. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

After a while of looking at both, the old car is starting to look ugly. The loooooooooooooooooong sloped nose, the off center body. In a couple of years, we won' think twice about it. I don't know what they couldn't have gone with a higher traditional spoiler, even if part of it was clear like the Iroc cars, but the racing has been just as good.

And the Driver complaints?? Drivers always complain when they aren't winning. (other than Kyle Busch, who complained when he won)

I just wanna see cars go fast and turn left, and I want to see the remain "mid-sized" cars.

Go Bobby Go!

And a year from now they will just call if "FAST"!

Re: NASCAR - The New Car

Possibly one reason some of the drivers are complainin is that they have to use more effort to drive the new car.

I agree that the looks of it mean little to me. I never liked the look of the off centering.

In a couple of years when they all get it figured out we'll once again be complaining that they are all to equal.

One of the weirdest-looking class of cars is also the fastest on an asphalt oval: the Oswego Modifieds. The driver sits to the right of the engine .. the engine actually pokes out the left side of the car!!! As far as I know, they only run in Oswego, NY.

I think it was Neil Bonnett that named the Ford Thunderbird a brick awhile back.Just can't remember the year but it did look like a brick.

Hey there, RD, I was at the Oswego opener this past weekend. That's where you'll find me every weekend! Have you seen the new Hawk and Calloca (sp?) chassis on the supermodifieds? Beautiful machines. Times are down in the 16.3's with these new cars without a wing on. Fantastic racing this weekend. "00" Joe Gosek took the checkers. If you follow Indy cars at all, he ran the Indy 500 a few years ago, edging out Tony Stewart by two spots. We hope to see Davey Hamilton at the track this year as he as an interest in one of the supers, maybe Schrader or Newman on PRA night. Bobby Santos III is racing ARCA and Busch this year, but we'd love to see him back in a super for the Classic. I love NASCAR, but there is nothing to compare to the supermodifieds. Hope you get to make that long trek to Oswego Speedway one of these days. It's awesome!

You aren't describing the car style brought out in the '80's by Maynard Troyer, are you?

Re: NASCAR - The New Car

Nascar doesn't need the support of the ricer punks. This car looks like it wishes it was a riced pos civic. Just bigger.
