Whatever the reason was that they found it better back then is why we desire it to be like it was .... but we move forward even if begrudgingly. Graciously Bob has even admitted that he is growing to like the COT. From the beginning I didn't really care as long as there was competitive racing. It is that way even though HMS dominates. For that I do and don't care. As many say "May the best team win." I guess they are.
I agree, it is nice to be able to talk with people who watched NASCAR in the 70's and 80's. They may have liked it back then, and want it to stay that way. But in reality, it can't, and I'm sure the older fans know that also. Jeff Gordon said he may not like the COT, but it will be a great car for the future of NASCAR. While the older fans may want NASCAR from the 70's and 80's, in reality that won't happen, and you have to go on with the future. I agree that away from the keyboard, our views may sound different. The text we type just makes it look like this and that.

Of course that's my opinion and I'm sure nobody agrees with it.

And this is my point exactly. The lucky dog is bull. It was created for what is supposed to be a safety reason. With the scoring loops at the tracks now that totally (almost) eliminates anyone even wasting thetime racing back to the caution like they used to do. The lucky dog was put into effect to offset the race back to the flag. I say earn your way back.

This is just one of many examples why some of the old timers get frustrated. Why a freebie for no valid reason ???

Now I do agree with the lucky dog rule. I think it needs to be scrapped, and you need to earn your lap back.
