Junior to Toyota - Any Chance?

Is there any chance Toyota could land Dale Earnhardt Jr.?

I'll be the first to admit this is a pretty far-fetched scenario, especially considering that Junior has gone on record saying he wants to drive a Chevy next year. But let's face it... the Toyota teams need a driver of his caliber, and they need a popular racer like Earnhardt to help their operations. So it would be a great signing on their end. My question is: is there ANYTHING, whatsoever, that Toyota could do to convince Dale Earnhardt Jr. to change his mind?

Re: Junior to Toyota - Any Chance?

since Jr. says it not about the money I don't suppose they have real chance in landing him. But it is like watching a horror movie to imagine the carnage that could happen if he switched.

Well, I'm sure he's concerned about having good tech people and a good pit crew around him, too. Toyota can't outdo, say, HMS is that department.

Jr said in the press conference he wants to drive Chevys, and thats it. So I doubt that Jr will go to Toyota, or any other manufacture.

Re: Junior to Toyota - Any Chance?

The negotiations between DEI and RYR could have been a big factor in his decision. RYR insists they will keep the ford namePlate.

I'm sure there is, but I do not believe they can actually do what he wants. He wants the victories and a championship. Toyoter isn't anywhere near those goals yet.

Keep this thought in mind. He did NOT say he wouldn't drive a Ford. Nobody asked him if everything else was what he wanted would he drive a Ford. I don't believe he will drive a Ford but he didn't make any 100% statement that he wouldn't.

Junior has been quoted as saying he won't sit in, drive, or own a FORD.... so I would say he would drive a Ford before a rice burner.

He didn't say never. That's the key point... he didn't say never... so he won't look like a bigger jacka$$ then he will look.

Re: Junior to Toyota - Any Chance?

You can bank on him being in a bowtie next year. I'm bettin' he goes to RCR. That would give them 4 teams which is the limit. If he doesnt go there, the only other Championship caliber group would be Gibbs Racing. HMS already has 4 teams with drivers all under contract, so I doubt he ends up there. If that happened, it would be my worst nightmare!
