| Re: DEI new driver search DEI may put Martin Truex in the 8, and put Paul Menard in the 1. That way, both of them will be locked in the top 35 in owner points. I think Menard is ready for a full time Cup ride, and this plays in his favor to do that. Truex is a good driver that can contend for wins. Putting him in the 8 will only improve that opportunity I think. DEI can leave open the 1 car for a development driver they have. |

| Re: DEI new driver search is the 8 still going to be a good ride with out the Eurys, and the Budmoney will be gone too. I can see the #8 butt paste car driven by slimpickens. hey here a thought, Kenny Wallace, he drove the #1 when park was injured. he ran real strong for a fill in driver. kenny has never had a quality full time ride. |

| Re: DEI new driver search Actually, I'm in the mood for a carreer change. Jr was getting 20.1 MILLION a year.(One million more than Gordon. And Jr's won how many championships?) I'm willing to work for a FRACTION of that. As far as experience, I drove 'competition' go-carts back in the early '60s.

| Re: DEI new driver search Strictly a guess but I'd say Biffle is the best bet now IF he leave Roush-Fenway. (Massive "IF" there) If he stays then all bets are off. One name which I haven't heard a single radio or TV hack mention, nor have I heard/seen anyone bandy about is <drum roll> Robby Gordon? Why Robby? (a) He's a dedicated racer and is possibly coming to the end of his second attempt at being an owner/driver. (b) He could bring his current team standing to DEI, letting Paul menard take the 2007 #8 owner points, thus making all three eligible for next year's start. (Assuming he'll finish this year in the top 35, and he's in 27th now) (c) He has attachments to Menard (Menard has become a sometimes-sponsor since Harrah's has departed the scene) and the Menard family has yet to be heard from in the on-going saga of DEI but I firmly believe that before the smoke clears, they WILL be a player. (d) Robby wouldn't be dependent on the Eury's if (my bet is "when") they go with Junior. He's used to calling his own shots, even if they do have a habit of missing the pocket. (e) He has a history with both Chevie and Ford, so whether RYR joins forces with DEI or not, he has both bases covered. DEI could do better than Robby, but they could also do worse. I read that Buckshot Jones is considering a comeback... <shudder>
