I believe we'll hear something to this effect around Brick Yard time, if they decide to do it next season. They might wait till 2009 though, but no later than that. |

| Re: two of three strikes penske was a pontiac team, then went to ford and is currently a dodge. I'm not sure what he runs in the other types of racing. was it 1990 when penske bought the #27 team that won the 89 winton cup, and brought miller to rusty and changed to the #2.

| Re: two of three strikes I think Toyota knew that their teams were going to struggle, I just don’t think that they thought it would be this bad! And it does not look like it is going to get any better. All of the Toyota teams have to make the race based on time. And given the current way that NASCAR does qualifying, they will not have many opportunities to get better. The teams will get about one hour on the track to practice for qualifying, 2 laps during qualifying, and then they will go home. How can you improve your car/ team if you do not get a little more than an hour each week to work on your car in a race situation? The only glimmer of hope for these cats is Reutimann. That kid is, by far, the most under-rated driver out there. If he could only finish a race!!! He is consistently making the field in cars that wily veterans like DJ and Mikey can’t do anything with. Now you can argue the level of talent that Mikey possesses, but you can’t argue that DJ never could drive. So that just means that Reutimann is just tough as nails. I wonder what he could do with a Hendrick car…. As for Toyota dropping MWR, I don’t think that will happen. First, they have invested too much time and too much money in this group to pull out now. And second, they based most of their publicity around Michael and his team. I don’t think cutting their losses is what they want to do. It would set a bad precedent for any other team thinking of defecting to Toyota. However, if Mikey went belly-up, I don’t think you would see Toyota rushing to his aid and they would not shed too many tears. But to be honest, I really don’t see why MWR wanted to attempt to start up this year. It makes no sense. With the COT, or New Car, or whatever we are calling it today, they have to spread their resources even wider than they would have if they had gotten in a few years ago. Besides the old super speedway cars, old small track cars, and old intermediate track cars that a new team would have to build, they would also have to begin trying to figure out the COT. It seems to me that it would have made more sense to wait until the COT was the only sled being used and then enter NASCAR. That would have saved them a ton of money and resources. But I guess we should not spend a ton of time trying to dissect the decisions of the Brothers Wit, right LSC? |

Well if we are looking at it that way I'm getting close to the limit. A ton of time is hardly enough for me. |
