It just makes me think that if these guys know how to drive it during a race, that they'd know to do it the same way during qualifying.

Or is it more like warm-up swings in baseball or golf, where you need to find your groove?

The problem is, qualifying is sooooo tight, the difference between 1st and 30th is probably 2 or 3 tenths of a second, so it doesnt take much to screw up. Some guys have always been good qualifiers, others struggle a bit. Kenseth for instance, rarely qualifies well, but is usually near the top at the end of the race.

Most times the cars are set up diffrently for qualifying versus the race trim.

I know we've still got plenty of racing left, but thus far, Gordon's been quiet and Johnson's car's banged up. Could this week end the HMS streak?

Gordo says he thinks he's got a camber problem. If so, that cant be fixed on a normal pitstop. The 48 still looks strong even though he smacked the wall. The 5 and 25 are still improving.

he got screwed in the green flag pitstops and went a lap down.but i think they can get the car hooked up and he will get the lucky dog and maybe at the end of the day he ends up gaining a spot or two in the points standings.

they will have to bring it in while its still early in the race and spend some time in the pits to fix it and it looks like they can do that now since a caution just came out with vickers hitting the inside wall.
