You know, I've been watching regularly this season, and I think I've seen enough of it to officially comment - the free pass/lap down rule is a terrible idea. If you're a lap down, you're a lap down. Deal with it. You shouldn't get rewarded or bailed out just because you suck.

With what they're talking about, with Kyle Busch having trouble in qualifying but success in the races. What would cause that?

Its like LSCs buddy ol DW said, he's overdriving it in qualifying. Basically trying too hard. Probably going in the turns too hard and upsetting the chassis.

As you've noted they keep saying drive against the track versus the competition. During qualifying they go all out and are actually fighting the track instead of just driving it. The end of the race is when they'll go all out for everything.
