Long, sorid story. Probably has more to do with bad blood between Junior, his sister kelley, and their stepmother, and Dale's widow, Teresa. Junior (and the entire Red Army) feel he should be owner of DEI. Apparently his father thought otherwise because he left the entire organization to Teresa.
The entire thing is just another example why one should N-E-V-E-R enter into any business arrangement with a relative. It tends to make family reunions be really crappy.

I would venture to say that 90% of all the Cup team owners have approached Junior with an offer. He'll take the one he feels best for him.

Not really. Kyle drove for Bud Moore long before he came into the family organization. Dale Sr owned DEI and fielded Cup teams, yet drove for RCR. Davey Allison would have likely stayed with RYR even though his father started a team.
